Energy Fix

Makes sense, unless you're a speculator who's running up the price of oil.

Re: Energy Fix

good speech. I agree with everything except the release of reserves. Dumping 1/3 of the reserves would probably have such a short lived reaction I dont know if it would do much to the price of gas, let alone make an impression long enough to be noticeable until new oil lines could be built. Also, the US keeps about 21 billion barrels of oil in reserves which puts the US faily low on the list of reserves for a country. That oil is also there for more emergency purposes, not to be used as a weapon against high gas prices. If the US were to dump 1/3 its oil reserve it would show as a week spot to other countries and could show vulnerability. I agree with drilling more for oil here in the US and nuclear energy.

Dumping reserves isn't going to punish the specs.
As a futures trader, I can tell you that speculators also make money when the price drops by going short. In fact, many would make money faster because bear markets move quicker than bulls. This is just a bunch of rhetoric to get the drilling ban lifted.

I could see a case where dumping reserves might, cut into oil company profits since gasoline price is determined by the price of the futures and not the cost of production.

If you want to punish the speculators, have the guys in the unmarked black Suburbans pay them an untraceable visit at bedside in the middle of the night.

A quiet middle of the night conversation at knife point should set things right.

Re: Energy Fix

Gas more than $4.00 a gallon. Who’s to blame?

Thanks to the environmentalist lobby and its influence on Democratic legislators in Congress, the U.S. has, for decades, been prohibited from drilling for oil in places that we know contain billions of barrels of proven reserves.

Williams makes some pretty good statements there. It kind of makes sense why they won't run cars on water, and won't drill in Alaska.
