Talking My Force Feels So....Like...Disturbed

I don't know if it's bad form to post your own disturbance, but most of us here are so disturbed anyway that maybe you just won't notice.

I got my new bike today - 2008 K1200GT in Adventurin Silver. It's loaded (ESA, ASC, heated stuff, Xenon lights, cruise, etc.) and I added the 49L trunk, which is friggin' huge! I picked it up late this afternoon and got a short ride in. The power of this thing just absolutely rocks!

Here are a few pics.

Dave: Hope you enjoy the new bike!!! I have refrained from riding any other bike, cause I know I'll want to change! As long as Miss E rides with me I'll have to keep the LT. Which is no problem, cause I love riding it also.

I certainly plan to! The short ride I got in this afternoon was enough to put a huge grin on my face. Going out again Sunday to get a few more break-in miles on the jewel.

Sweet bike, David. Too bad about the color though.

I'm curious what you think about the stock windshield. After you get a few miles on it, of course.

Enjoy your new bike, David. Looks like 05 LT is gone. I do not see the LT in the garage.

Can't wait to ride next to you heading to Cambria Dave. Looks SHAWEET! And don't pay attention to Ken. The only way he can feel secure is ... well ... you know.

Lookin good David! Somehow when we saw that Raffy got your LT I knew this was where you were heading. If we were not doing the two up stuff as much as we do (CCR especially!) I might just lean that way also. But I have to tell you that the LT really is still my best all around Bike. Katie can do it all and I am enjoying it all. Now go carve a few curves with that beauty!

Re: My Force Feels So....Like...Disturbed

Thanks, everybody! I really feel good about this one. It was difficult selling the LT, but if the first 75 miles are any indication I think I'm going to REALLY enjoy this bike. To answer a few questions/comments -

Raffy bought my LT, so it's got a fun and loving home and one of the best caretakers I could wish for it.

I'm giving the windshield a fair shake, but budgeted for a VStream, just in case. I had one on the LT and loved it.

As for 2-up riding, Kari is starting to ride a little bit again so we're going to see how she likes the GT. She got on the back if the GT with the trunk and elt she had more space than on the LT with the trunk moved to the rear position. She actually likes the GS a little better than she did the LT, although she seemed to have fun on our last LT trip together to Cambria a few months back.

This thing will be a hoot riding to Cambria, and I think just about anywhere else I go, too! I'm hitting the Santa Cruz mountains for a few break-in miles tomorrow, and expet to have a large poo-eating grin on my face the whole time.

Disturbed, dis-shmurbed - we're all nuts in this loco bin!

Congrats, David!

I picked up mine yesterday and I am not too far from you (about 150 miles over Pachaco Pass). 'Tho with the new bike that distance might increase a bit . The shortest distance between two points is for those that don't ride. I'm sure we will meet up in the near future, because I do about 1 trip a month to Saratoga for work. I will be there on Monday for the week, but unfortunately have to take the car for passenger space.
Sounds like we have all the same options and I am also testing out the stock height windshield.

Hi Brian!

I saw you post in the GT forum as well, congrats! Let me know what your plans are while in town, maybe we can meet up for a beer or some dinner. Also, check out the Cambria ride coming up May 3-4 (thread at the top of the norcal forum). I put it on every year and we usually get a good crowd, and the riding in the area is fantastic! Very laid back and relaxed time, and lots of good folks to meet and hang out with.

I love the set up on your bike. I have been looking at few used 07 GTs. Can I ask what I would expect to pay for a setup like yours OTD

I know dealers are making deals on 07s to clear them out for the 08 models, so new 07s are going at good prices. Also, BMW will make your first 3 payments or give you $1250 towards BMW parts and accessories (the trunk is about $780, for example), which helps a lot in the overall deal. San Jose BMW has a new 07 in dark blue with everything except Xenon headlights, and an 07 demo in Graphite Metallic with standard supension, heated grips, cruise and bike computer. I'm sure they would be willing to make you a deal on either one, especially the demo unit. Tim Johnson is the sales manager; give him a call and tell him I referred you (408-295-0205, press 3). Of course, using my name might add a few hundred bucks to what you have to pay!

Now that depends. Do you want to cross Nevada, or just ride around it for a week?

I can see it now. Forget Cambria and Fort Bragg. Now we're talking Zion, or Sedona, or Durango for the weekend. You could even day-trip CCR. It really opens up your horizons.

It's in the blood; in the blood. Coastal Cal is generally perfect riding weather mid morning on. Might be a bit raw up your way at times, but certainly worth dealing with on a new ride...

Sweet it is Dave, sweet it is... Good luck with it!

And here is it`s mother (hehe) See the resemblanse?

Very nice looking bike, Dave. I like the color. I didn't know color and key matching was available on the topcase. Maybe I should've gotten a dealer topcase rather than the Givi.

Oh well, it's just an excuse to paint the whole bike something fun.

The dealer definitely matches the key. The top case painting is happenign through the shop they farm out their paint work to for repairs, the races bikes, customs, etc.

You should have yours painted the Mojito color from the bar at MotoGP last year.

Ha! I'd prefer something a little darker. I just cannot see that shade of green on my bike.

I'm looking for a place to mount my V1 and XM Radio. I also hear the heated seat doesn't work that well.

I do want to ride one in the worst way. Just to see what it can do.

I rode the boxer model too. It's a little better handling, but that K motor is SWEET!!!
