It was a "Disturbing" day in Vegas yesterday

Have you ever twisted the throttle of a turbo charged motorcycle????

Me neither so I just had to buy that Turbo K1200RS I posted prevously.

I was the first to call and the guys phone rang 3 times while we talked so I just went ahead and closed the deal.

Flew to Vegas yesterday arriving at 2:30 in the afternoon and was home today by 1:30pm after overnighting in Mojave.

Interesting machine, the balanced and blueprinted motor is silky smooth and cruised easily at 80mph getting about 40 mpg with 0 boost, but get above that and the Turbo spools up and accelerates effortlessly to make passing but a blurrrrrr.

From a stop, its absolutly insane with the boost set at 25% of maximum (I do not know if I will get the nerve to turn the dial up further?).

Should be a fun Wednesday night bike and rounds out my stable of BMW's.

I saw it today, it is the ultimate sleeper. Other than the tubing that the alcohol injection runs through, you don't really notice anything unusual...

Doug, Doug, Doug... you never cease to amaze me. I once said I would follow you anywhere but now I draw the line. With that bike I won't even be able to see you (just a blur).

Do not, I repeat, do not ponderize that bike. We don't want you landing in the middle of your "friendly" neighbor's property

Be careful and have fun.

Yes that is the bike. It was used to design the kit they now list on thier website.

I can not see owning it forever so if you want it next be sure to let me know so I can name you in my will.

Actually it seems fairly docile in lower rmp ranges and only gets rowdy if you twist the wrist to far, then it does not just go fast, it gets fast quick.
Origional owner (he bought it new at Portland Motorcycle Co. 5/19/98 so I am second owner) says limited to 155 mph.

Re: It was a "Disturbing" day in Vegas yesterday

I saw Doug at A&S this morning as he brought his new turbo-K in for service. Here are a couple of pictures:

The bike without the fairing

Doug being told how many $$$$ it will cost

Doug comtemplating the meaning of life with a turbocharged motorcycle

I can tell you almost all the techs in the garage were coming over to look at Doug's bike. It was quite the center of attraction for a while.

There is some truth to this! When Doug proudly announced to them that he was the guy who broke his GS in half all the techs kind of nodded their heads simutaneously as if to say, "that makes sense."
