Cool Expresso Riders - Sequoia Kings Canyon

Norcal's Expresso Riders will ride to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park the weekend of May 2-4, 2008. Accomodations will be at the Wuksachi Lodge in Lodge Pole smackdab in the middle of the park. Make your own reservation online. Book now for best selection and avoid the inevitable spring sellout. There is a 48 hour full cancellation policy. First come, first serve. Open menu dinner on Friday and Saturday nights at the Lodge restaurant. There is a $10 entrance fee for the park or use your Annual Pass. Rally point for the ride down to be determined. All riders welcome. Couples, single, any make with legal exhaust.

Please PM Tallyho/Bob Morrow if you planning to attend and include an email address and the first names of those attending or sign up through the Expresso Rider website Calendar. http://www.expressoriders.org/interest.htm

http://www.visitsequoia.com/Accomodations.aspx

We hope to ride with you soon! All Expresso Riders weekend rides for 2008 are posted on this site's calendar. Check it out for more information.

Some photos from the Sequoia Kings Canyon Roadtrip(SKR) in 2005. Can you tell our Rick Mayer seat is brand new and that Jeanie and I have both lost 20 pounds since then? I think everyone agreed that was an excellent trip.

New memories and good times await in 2008!

Looks like about fifteen bikes so far. Heck, if it weren't for Larry we guys would be outnumbered. Can't see that as a problem, though.

Re: Expresso Riders - Sequoia Kings Canyon

By this time next week we'll be fully engaged in this ride! The road between the parks has been open for a month but the road down into Kings Canyon just opened today. Spring has sprung and the snowmelt begun! The Wuksachi Lodge is sold out but there are still a few rooms available at Grant Grove Village in case the gorgeous weather and capital riding conditions have the highway calling your name.

There may be a few more. I've had people ask me for alternate lodging ideas just in the last 12 hours. It's always nice to have a list but anyone is welcome to show on ride day. We'll be well into it by this time tomorrow!

Excellent weather, dynamic company, outstanding roads, cozy accomodations, quality cuisine, spectacular scenary, fuzzy bears, and a giant "trunk" of new memories.

A great time was had by all, Eileen and I couldn't catch up with the rest of the pack after getting caught by the traffic light and slow traffic after the lunch stop (I think I had you in sight once only to have the traffic slow us down again) thanks for setting up a great weekend.

Was one of your group two-up on a dark grey LT heading south on 245 late Sunday afternoon? My apologies if I blew past rather quickly, but the road was awesome and the GT wanted to run . . .

Not one of ours but we saw that same LT as we were coming out of the area late Sunday morning. We did have one of ours on an F650 heading north on 245 about 1100.

I was heading south around 5 p.m. after grabbing a couple of National Park stamps.

I had just passed a pair of Harleys running 20-25 mph (I was doing double that) and then I came upon the LT doing 25-30 mph. I tried to leave plenty of room, but you gotta make your own passing lanes on that road.

Nice pics though. It looks like y'all had a good weekend, though I'm glad I didn't run into any bears.

Re: Expresso Riders - Sequoia Kings Canyon

The bears were definitely out and about this weekend. One of our guys got some great shots of some cubs on a tree. I'm hoping they get posted here or on the other site. Also had a few full size ones near the lodge playing around right outside the restaurant window in the snowbanks. Pretty happy guys and you know all they really want is a "pick-a-nick" basket.

Re: Expresso Riders - Sequoia Kings Canyon

It's the following Friday evening and I just did a 45 minutes tour of our trip last weekend in the Sequoia NP. Outstanding trip with incredible scenery and really great folks. Thanks to everyone and especially Bob & Jeannie for organizing and Mark and Vicki and Ed and Dovie for the wonderful pix. Memories forever!
