Rider Down. and It's ME

Sunday 3:30PM I was going into Plymouth for some gas in the GS Hwy 16 as I appr`oached the intersection of HWY 49 I saw a 4x4 lifted Dodge waiting to cross Right to left he was crowding the line across the road a TOY/DAT/ZU in primer was also waiting to cross Left to right

Dropped to 50 ( 55 speed limit) I have right of way but .. when I got to about 50 yards out I dropped to 45+ I clearly see the face of both drivers First the Impatient Dodge Check then the TOY/DAT/ZU make Eye contact ( at least I saw3 his whole face ) now I am 30 yards out or less and he pulls right into my line!!! Hard on brakes not going to make it! T Bone comming! Door! no Quarter Pannel hard LEFT!! trying to scrub off as much speed as I could I see space behind him I'mm going to....BAM!!! Jessy Bag slams into his Qrarter pannel or bumper. Flips bike hard right and Down ... head slams into road I land hard on right Arm /side. Slding face up to the curb. thinking of all the people who said I'd end up face down in a ditch - Hell they were wrong !! I could see sky well some of it my face shield was scrached - i Thought at first my glasses were broken no.
OK I'm lying in a ditch time to take invetory feet I can feel them and move same hands Check legs check arms check head? seems fine no pain and I can see .

I cant see trafic so 'Chuck get out of the road!' oncomming trafic is going 55 and will avoid my large leaking bike so get out of road ( stop! ) I knew it was unwise when I was dooing it but I'v seen people drive.

People are gathering I hear one voice say "The truck ran!' it was the voice of the wife of 4x4 Dodge who had put her out with Cell and was in persuit of TOY/DAT/UZ.

All the usual players started showing up, ambulance, fire Sheriff and Two Highway Patrol the last of which had the driver and Passenger of the TOY/DAT/UZ locked in the back seat!!!

FINAL TALLY RIBS RIGHT SIDE 4-7 THREE BROKEN AND ONE DISLOCATED !

I'm home and sore . Three days in the Hospital while they looked for internal bleading.

Bike is well you have seen it hard to tell except for a few things.

Ride safe thoes Bastards are out to get you!

OH one last thing if Barbara Boxer is reading this the DRiver did not speek english . go figure .

Ya shoulda been allowed at least ONE TAZER discharge in the general direction of the patrol car's rear seat area... with some lighter fluid thrown in about 5 seconds preceeding discharge.

Glad they at least caught it.

Now, gonna press attempted murder or manslaughter charges?

Sorry to hear that Chuck, but glad you came through it no worse off than you are. this bike doens not look happy though. Is the front fork supposed to be bent like that? I'm also glad they caught the slime-bucket ass-wipe who ran (friggin' coward), and I hope he has insurance. Clean him out, he deserves it.

Chuck,
Glad to hear you're going to be ok! That intersection has sucked for years-and it's wide open. I've seen more crashes there than I can recall over the years going to Volcano. I take it the signals that have been installed (For a month or so now.) still are not working??
IMHO if there is a positive. The slimbag who fled committed their crime in Amador County. Justice seems to be much more swift there and punishment seems to "fit the crime" more there than in Sac County. At least there you can call the DA's office and speak personally with the Deputy DA assigned to your case. Good luck doing that with any expediency in Sacramento!

Crap Chuck, I was always worried you would get kicked in the head by a horse, not a Toyota.

Glad you were on the ball and watching out for #1 as the cages could care less.

Heel fast and let us know if we can do anything to help out (no I do'nt shoe horses).

The officer will probably submit for 20001 CVC -- felony hit & run. After that it is up to the DA to follow through with prosecution.

Glad to see you are able to post messages, so you’re still with us!

Chuck,

Sorry to hear of your crash, but happy that you are well enough to breathe and type. It takes time to heal, and the older we get the longer it seems to take. Don't rush it, take it slow and easy. In other words, do as I say, not as I did!

God bless.

up date to some questions that have been asked :

the forks ar Leding link set up for solo so they do bend like that ( although I have not looked closly)

The light though instaled is not working when it does Plewase be extra carfull

drivers have been CA stopping at that spot for decades and they will take some time to adjust to Having to stop the oppeating light will give a false sence of secuRity..

and one of the responding Fire men said they have a fatality there every 6 months.

Sorry for the spelling but the drugs have kicked in (oops forgot to eat somthing fir`st) and I was a two finger typest now down to one .

Chuck

Now do you think a little duct tape will help the lid on my bag?

That little rash above my glove is all I got ATGATT ! ( well you can see I did not have pants on but the other stuff shure helped.

pics would not load

No do you see your mistake Chuck? You should have stayed on the throttle and you would have been past them before they pulled out.

J/K Glad you were able to get the speed down as much as you did and are in good enough shape to tell us about it. Worst part about rib injuries is they hurt worse in ten days than the did they day you hurt them. Just something for you to look forward too.

Chuck, sorry to hear about your circus act. I feel for you. I was involved in a hit and run, but in my truck. Someone ran a stop sign and scraped the whole side of their vehicle on the front of my truck. I couldn't get my door open he hit it so hard. Thankfully I didn't get hurt.

As someone said before, take it easy on the ribs because they do take a looooonnng time to heal. Just wait til you cough or sneeze. Ouch!!
