Congratulations Ted. There seems to be a trend towards 650s among the posse. I'm guessing there will be a lot of trailers with 650s heading to Death Valley in January.

Not yet, but that's really what I need. I have three more bedrooms than I need and I'm short a couple of garage spots. Too many toys...It's really a pain in the ass

Took the new bike out today to Prairie City OHV. All I can say is this bike is INSANE!!! Tons of power, the dirt/street tires held very well and the best part was the suspension. The BMW air dampened rear shock is amazing. It soaked up even the biggest whoops and is super smooth. The front in has lots of travel and tracks really well. I was hitting the whoops and large rocky sections harder that I do with my DRZ with the Race Tech suspension. Death Valley is gonna be a blast!!! I did drop it once. Stopped to wait for my brother to catch up and when he didn't show up I tried to turn around on the side of a hill and tipped it over. Put a nice dent in the muffler, but no biggy I ordered an after market one yesterday

6. EagleMike Doo kit
7. 1.5" lowering links (Installed)
8. Tall windshield (Installed)
9. Renthal 1 1/8" fat high bars (Installed)
10. Moose set-back footpegs (Installed)
11. Moose handlebar brush guards (Installed)

Not sure if you know this or not about the G650X, thought I would let you know just to make sure.
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...ht=g650x+shock

I think it's on page 3. It shows how rubbing on the air shock made a hole.

RIDICULOUS. Do any of you guys ride these things before throwing obscene amounts of crap at them? All that bike really needs is some suspension work.

I'm a newbie here, been lurking and reading a few threads and just want to thank everyone for a great lunch time chuckle ...I've got just shy of 1,000 miles on my 08 KLR and have either installed, oredered or lusted after everything on LodiHal's list....I was amazed how he could list everything I've thought about...Seems like the Dual Sports are just like Harleys: just a platform to start "improving" on....I look forward to making some of your "open dinners" and possibly riding with you sometime....keep up the very insightful and thoughtful work, LodiHal!!! I'll go back to work now.....

Seems to me you girls are a little sensitive.
I should have known amarider would jump in here to defend his FARKLING brother, his GS looks like a friggen F16 from the riders seat.

BTW, "farkle" is the single most ridiculous non-word ever spoken. Watch yourself say it in the mirror and you'll see what I mean.

All I'm sayin' is these DIRT bikes are not exactly designed to carry all this extra crap. The lighter the better in the dirt. Just because someone makes it, isn't always the best reason to hang it on yer cycle.
