Ride today - snow, logs, lost???

Well today after the RCB Breakfast and a Visit to A&S, Jim And I headed up to Forest Hill to find some dirt. Billy was at A&S on his LT, so he buzzed home drug Nancy out of the shower and met us in Forest Hill on the GS - I think Nancy was still wet........

We tooled on up Forest Hill rd until we hit a patch of snow, it was in a flat area with tracks through it. We all managed to get the GS's through upright, no problems. Then another longer patch of snow on a up hill, Billy gave it a try but it was melting fast and nothing but Ice on the under side - No go.

So we turned around and headed down the hill, turned off the main road on Elliot ranch road, dirt and rocks. We were going to take this road about 15 miles to Iowa Hill Road. But about 6 miles in we hit a 5 way intersection with gates on three of the roads we could not get around. The 4th was had a berm with a very large log on top. We found at the edge just around a tree was a 2 foot berm we could get over. Off we went, this road was not on the GPS, About every 1/4 mile was a tree fall, we moved some small ones and went into the brush around others. I think Nancy was getting tired off getting of the GS so Billy could go brush busting. About the 4th tree fall Billy went high up and around, Jim tried to follow but his GS took a nap in the middle of the attempt........ Billy helped Jim wake up his GS and on we went. Over and around trees then about 10 miles in we came to an fresh cut area with lots of berms and tree trash. After getting stuck and unstuck a dozen times the road/trail disappeared????? Sh*T!

We had to go back the way we came, did I mention it was Hot and now we're tired! All the same obstacles on the way back but now the top box on Billys GS is popping off now and then......

We get all the way back out to pavement and buzz on to Iowa Hill for a Cold One! Then to Colfax for some really late Lunch, at lunch I noticed that I ripped two of the four rubber mounts off the engine protector. - Sh*T again. The other two mounts got me home - I was a little surprised the mounts ripped so easy - Oh Well better that than the motor.....

Nice Day on the GS, It was Obstacle avodance training. I'm worn out, it's a great feeling - Time to chill with a beer and do nothing, maybe some TV.

Now If Jim and Billy will post some pics, I'm having a lot of trouble with my photo program at home - Can't down size the photos.

Thanks for the report, John. It sounds like the four of you did a lot of work but had a great time.

Howdy Al,

Yes, Nancy is a trooper and I am blessed.

Along those lines, before we tagged along iwth John and Jim that Saturday we had a scheduled ride out to Sausalito via Napa on the LT set for Sunday. We were both whipped, but a commitment to a ride is just that, so off we went on Sunday. Only minor grumbling before leaving, but after that it was all good.

Glad to hear the GPS is fitting your needs.
