Heading down to Los Angeles

I posted in the vendor forum that I was going to be out for a few days taking care of mom and dad ( recuperating from hip replacement surgery).

Hope to get back by late Tuesday next week.

Raffy

Take good care of the folks, drive safe, see you when you get back.

I'm vacilating. Do I take the truck or GS.

Part of me says take the truck and go in comfort. The other part says take the GS for the higher mpg but be somewhat beat from the ride.

The plan is to leave at 5 am and get to my parents' house before noon. I figure 5 1/2 hours if I average 70 mph. I will need to stop once for fuel. Most probably around Buttonwillow if I'm not going aginst a strong headwind.

Won't need to stop for fuel in the truck. But a bio break will probably make me anyway.

Might want to check that rain front, too. Whichever way you choose, drive safe!

If you have use of a car there, then the GS is good, but if not, it might be useful to have a car since you are taking care of your parents.

Plus, LA traffic is no party on a bike, people there are seriously aggressive.

LA traffic most dangerous occurence: COC (Chick on the Cell)!!! I had to defensively kick a car door yesterday as the vehicle started wandering dangerously into my lane on a surface street. The COC was scared and shocked that I did that, totally oblivious to the fact that she was endangering me!!! I did not make a mark on her car, as this was not my primary objective... but I guess it made a sound that probably interfered with her phone conversation. I usually use the horn, but there was no time for that.
L.A. traffic can get congested so I split lanes all the time. I find that many people move out of my way on the freeway.
You guys probably experience the same in S.F.
