Thumbs up Come by the "Ride 4 Kids" Both

Doug:

I, along with members of my Chapter of the Blue Knights, will be at the show on Saturday, and I'll be working the "Ride 4 Kids" booth from 10:00 - 2:00 p.m. On Sunday, I'll be there working the booth, again, from 10:00 - 2:00 p.m.

SAWDOG members Larry & Eileen and Jim & Babs will be with me working the both on Sunday, too.

Come by the booth and say, "Hi!"

Ride with Pride,

Hal - last time I checked the vendors only sold stuff that could fit into a saddlebag (or two).

There can't possibly be anything there that requires a CAR to bring back.... could there ?

Actually I was going to buy a motorcycle lift, but I bought one today locally. So now it's just some Gerbings gear...

Bob, The RCB has $2.00 off tickets, plus if you ride a bike, parking is free.

Also, a group of us will be meeting for breakfast Saturday at the Western Coffee Pot and then riding down if anyone would like to join.

If you plan on going Saturday, I can bring the rig down in the morning. Ride (I'll haul a bike also) or drive depending on weather from your place.

Let me know.

Dan; I was planning to ride down with some other folks on Saturday morning, but if the 60% chance of heavy rain is correct (URL below), I will ride down on Sunday, and leave around 7:45a to be there when they open (hopefully before it gets crowded).

That works for me. If it's raining Sunday, I'm taking the car, otherwise, the bike.

Thumbs up Meet to ride?

Looks like the weather gods have postponed rain on Saturday so we can all attend the show in comfort.

Anyone leaving from points south of Sacramento (Modesto/Stockton/Lodi) want to meet up and caravan over?

Sacramento crew ride to the Show Saturday

Meeting Place - Eppies West Sac (West Sacramento exit I-80 west bound just before the causeway)
Time : 0830 departure, get there early for Breakfast.

While weather.com is still showing showers, all of the local stations are showing the day dry with the high temp in the low 50's.

I hope the local weather stations are wrong

All the local stations forcast rain, even thunderstorms for Saturday, while Weather.com says a clear day. I hope Weather.com is right and the local three stations are wrong..

It's that time of year where nobody has much of a clue about what's going to happen with the weather. Channel 2 (KTVU) in the Bay Area tends to be right more than most, and they're predicting a chance of morning showers (light, small ones) but that most of the rain will head for the LA region. What the hell, if it rains, it rains.

I just got back from doing a route from Sacramento to Redwood city, Emeryville, Fairfield and Natomas. No rain. No wipers. Beautiful all day. Whatever forecast they said about today and rain was just plain wrong. So, I forecast no rain tomorrow. And that's that.

Ted, I'm sorry I didn't see you there, but for those that I did see and contributed generously to the "Ride4Kids" via the raffle, thanks from the bottom of my heart.

My wife, Louise, & I, along with Jim & Babs and Larry & Eileen will be working the booth tomorrow if others of you will be attending the show on Sunday. If you're there, drop by and say hi.

Thanks guys; it was a great day for the kids. By the way, the three of us in the booth sold $1,100 worth of raffle tickets in 4 hours today. The coordinator from Virginia that dropped by was completely "Blown Away"!

Ride with Pride,

Great to see everyone down at the show!
Nathan, Roger, Raffy and Myself road down in the sub 40 degree temps but at least it was dry. The show was really spread out this year, as for the new rides I liked the look of the 1098 best. The new Concours looks OK but we didn't get to sit on it. Really liked the layout of the RV toyhauler with the Motorcycle pull outs.

Well Nathan has the pics.
Enjoyed riding with the original Posse today.

Well Nathan has the pics.
Enjoyed riding with the original Posse today.
It was great to tag along and try to keep up with the three amigos. I enjoyed the show. It was everything I expected and more. I started out with a $5 breakfast burrito and a $7 beer. And of course, plenty of eyefuls. Good to see all the posse out, 'specially Shredder. Sorry I missed John's raffle. Next time, for sure.

The cool motorcycle off road game was the best. Glad it warmed up after leaving the valley.

All the pictures are making me sorry I was not able to spend more time at the show (Joan and I were able to spend an hour at about 6:30pm). Some of you in the Posse know I have a place in Burlingame. Our intention was to stop there, drop off the dogs, go visit my elderly father and head to the show. When I got to my father's place we noticed an old car we keep in his garage was missing. After talking to my dad's caregiver it turns out the caregiver's son stole their key to my father's house on Friday night and went to my dad's house and stole my car and a gun we had in a drawer.

I immediately called 911 but felt like sh*t because it meant my dad's caregiver's son (age 15) was in trouble and it was so, so difficult on his parents. The caregivers are such nice people and do a wonderful job with my 89 year old father. If their kid had not taken the gun there might have been hope but the gun meant the police had to be involved. I am their only source of income and they live rent free in one of my investment properties. If I fire them I could really screw up their lives.

Well dealing with all the emotions of a stolen car, gun and hurting people I really like pretty much killed the mood to go to the show.

Bottom line,

- this morning at 1am the cops found my car and arrested the son. He is charged with breaking and entering, burglary, grand theft auto, hit and run (my car was smashed in on the passenger side) and more.

- His parents are devastated.

- I interviewed new caregivers today for backup for my dad. I will not fire the caregivers but will hire the new agency to cover weekends.

- The gun has not been recovered.

BTW, tow companies seem to take advantage; I was charged $305 to get my car which included $75 to open the gate.

What a weekend!

Dell, You are to be congratulated for your compassion for these people during this unfortunate incident. Many would be angered by the theft, and immediately fire the unsuspecting, uninvolved parents. Good for you. Hopefully the son will come out of this with a lesson learned and a better outlook on life itself.

Cool My brush with a "celebrity" at the IMS

Short story:

Me: "Excuse me - aren't you Clement? From Rider Magazine"

Clement: "That's me!"

Me: "I really enjoy your column each month..."

Clement: "Thanks..." and then turns and heads for the snack bar...

So call it a very small brush... Sorry I don't have pictures to substantiate my story, but there were lots of witnesses...

Ended up at the show on Saturday afterall

Doofus me thought the party my wife and I were going to was on Saturday, so I missed going with you guys.

At about noon I realized I had it backwards so I jumped on the Gold Wing and headed for San Mateo.

Good show, bought a anti-fog face shield for the Shoei helmet, and Gerbing socks which will be shipped. Also gave the Aprilia factory rep an earful over accessory availability.

Saw some nice bikes and I got some pics which are still on the camera. Did anyone get to see the Ducati 1098? WOW!

Came out about 6PM and the wind was up, thought it was cold. I got suited up including electrics and new baclava bought at A&S Saturday AM, and proceeded into a traffic jam at 52 degrees.

Talk about chestnuts roasting on an open fire. When I finally got out onto 580 east of Livermore the temps got low enough to be comfortable. At about Tracy I turned on the gloves and jacket.

42 degrees rolling up 5 and I was warm as can be so I think I am just about ready for Death Valley.

Verdict: Motorcycle Show, Thumbs Up
Bay Area Traffic: How do they live like that?

Dell,

that is a bad weekend... it is a good thing that you found out about the loss...

everyone makes choices in there life... this youngster made a bad choice and needs to see that a bad choice effects everyone ... I commend you on how you handled the situation...
