By the looks of the picture you bought another bike. So I guess you won't need the GS anymore. I can come and get that old thing so you will have room for the new one.

The horizontal ones are saddlebag protectors. The vertical ones are adjustable locking straps. The bags themselves expand up to about 1.5 times what they look closed. The straps extend and then lock the bag in place in the expanded position.

I thought it was part of the auto-righting mechanism. They tried it for the LT, but it was just too heavy.
