Almost 100k for me

On my route today, I was calculating how many miles I've ridden on bikes since I started riding again in August '01, 60 months ago. I've put a total of 93k miles on my three LT's. Another 3k on a K75 and 3k on my 650GS. A total of 99k miles in 53 months of riding (I did not ride for 7 months after my accident on the first LT). That's 1865 miles a month average. I should get to 100k this month.

And please don't compare me to the likes of TLash, or BBacon or JFlowers, etc. But for me, it's not too shabby.

I am planning to sell my '04 LT soon after I get some servicing and warranty work done. My son, Colby, is going to take over the payments on my 650GS. So I believe my next bike will be a used 1150GS or 1200GS, depending on what comes available this month. I like the 650 ok but it just seems too small for me. I don't want to get another touring bike right now but am open to buying an older LT or RT sometime in the future. Right now, I just want to own one bike. Only one bike to service and insure would be nice for me right now.

Anyways, always thinking and conniving and conspiring. Just like the rest of the Posse.

Roger Congrats on aproaching 100K, since day 1 I always thought you were a natural. It's in your blood, nothing you can do about except ride.

Glad you made all those miles Roger ..But is the LT a breed of the past??...seems like a lot of the posse is dumping it in search of other models. are we all turning into dirt riders???

I think the LT is a perfect bike. I'm just not looking for perfection at this time. I'm not worthy. And I want to own just one bike right now. The 650 is just not a good fit for me. And I believe I can still do a fair amount of touring with a bigger GS if it is accessorized right. But if I could afford two bikes, I would definately own another bmw touring bike, too. As far as dirt riding, I believe the GS will see more highway than not.

I know where there is a R1150GS Adventure available (no, not mine). Price is right and it's an '04.

PM if interested.

Hey, Roger - take a look at the October issue of MCN. Bill Shaw has an article on farkle-izing a GS. Good grief, I think he's even added the kitchen sink in there somewhere!! Coupla guyz here locally have jettisoned their LTs and are riding the heck out of the GSs.

Good luck to ya, whichever route you go and whatever you wind up with. Actually, a pretty good predicament to be in, if it doesn't drag on too long!!

Ahhhh....

The famous T-shirt picture

This is the one that was used to design the "If it has curves....Ride It!" t-shirts.
