Yep, doing it myself to avoid the lease scam.
This way I own system and I get the 30% rebate.
Got everything from www.solarelectricsupply.com in Soquel for a fraction of what Solar Contractors wanted.

Stewart at Solar Electric Supply will offer advice and prepare quotes.
email [email protected]

He's also a moto rider.

My system is 10,000 watts to hopefully generate all the power I'll need.
Excess not used during daylight will be "banked" and used a night and during summer when I run my vineyard pump.
You can not get rid of the various "fees" PG&E tacks on every month for meter. lines etc. but I hope to only have about $75/month bill, not the $450 average I have now.
Saving $5K per year will pay for Solar System in 5 years and figuring 20 year life save another $75K if prices do not go up and more if they do.

I went with IronRidge rails
Method of fastening rails to roof depends on roof material.
I used SnapNrack standing seam clamps on my metal roof.
40 REC moldules (panels)
40 Solar Edge Optimizers
2- 5000 watt Solar Edge Inverters

Solar Edge equipment is an upgrade.

All materials delivered to my ranch

You'll need to purchase sub-panel and breakers, A/C disconnect, splice boxes and conduit/wire from modules to subpanel to disconnect to meter.

We are putting a system on our motorhome so we can camp off grid but I sure like the idea of having one on the house too. With every light in our house being LED and very little A/C use we really don't have a very big electric bill (average is about $55 a month) so I don't know if it would pencil for us but I am going to look at the website you listed and calculate the cost/return.

Saw Doug's going in, looks really good. But SMUD is cheaper than PGE. Hard to imagine a good ROI vs a $55.00 per month electric bill.

(PS: I have a Solar Water heat system. Biggest waste of money I ever spent. Come and get it, it's yours.)

Yep, after looking at the link Doug posted it would take about 20 years for me to get my $$$ back. I will stick to having Doug build me a nice deck and some French doors off the master bedroom.

Your bill is lower than PG&E "Fees" before they even charge you for power !!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep doing what you are doing, leave the lights off and travel.

LOL, good point Doug. We frequently have bills around $42-$45 but we get a couple of bills in the high $50 range in the summer. I just got the bill for the last 30 days today and it was $56.42 because my wife ran the AC darn her.

Doug I would like to talk to you soon about a deck, that doesn't use much electricity
