I think its time to start talking about The John Day rally. I am in. Who else is going? I can smell the campfire and taste the beer already!

Re: John Day

Well, no riding for me as I went and tore up my foot and I have been sentenced to a month in an orthopedic walking boot. I think I’ll saddle up my truck and still attend. I can play a support role for my rally friends. I’ll bring an ice chest of beer. What else should I bring? Anyone have a special request? Anything I can haul for you folks. Just let me know.

Dan,

Sorry to hear about your foot. Hope you mend quickly. If you have a tarp, we could set up in case we get any liquid sunshine. If not I sure would be willing to pitch in on any cost incurred.

Red face Re: John Day

Dan, just talked to Art and he may not be able to make it this year due to work comitments! He says the earliest he could get away is Friday afternoon, which would put him in late Friday! So he is thinking it would be a pain setting up everything in the dark for just the 2 nights. I suggested that if he can make it that he let you haul his camp gear out & I could set it up for him, so all he would need to do if he makes it Friday evening is grab a beer and hit the sack!

If he decides to go, are you willing to tote his gear for him? At this time I am thinking I will still be heading out Thursday, but that may change as well, so stay tuned!

John

Things change pretty quickly at Nike and the project that I'm on may get delayed from a critical issue that I uncovered today

More tomorrow on if and when I can show. I'll get my gear straightened out and bagged up.

So who all is palnning to ride out Thursday, & who is riding out Friday, or later? For the Thursday ride, is the Black Bear Diner still a good place to hook up? And if so, what time? Inquiring minds want to know!

Cause that is just what she has been doing for the last few months. I totaled her back in November when Art & I were out riding the hills and I ended up with some wet leaves at the wrong time!

So we'll be riding the original Tigger to John Day! Maybe it will provide some cautionary story telling around the camp fire!

I'll be heading over Thursday, and John, the Black Bear for a late breakfast/early lunch sounds just right. I could meet up on Hwy 26 or come up the east side of Mt. Hood. Dan - it would be lunch for you too, just arriving in the new Dodge PU? I'll call you about a possible gear transport.

Art - I'm all in for setting up your camp, so come on over. A cold beer or five will be waiting.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

I think that he'd take the entire bear claw in case he got hungry on the remaining drive. Part of the survival gear.

Good point Dan. After all, we wouldn't want to not have enough room left for the camping gear due to the Bear Claw taking up too much space. Super generous sacrifice you're making for the team buddy! We remember how great those Bear Claws are after all!

Possible route change to our plan coming! Denny and I discussed the possibility of heading a little further East before turning South just to shake things up a bit. So check back to see where the meet up may be if not the Black Bear Diner in Madras. Maybe Pendleton?

Change in Meeting Place

We are taking a different route to John Day this year and will not be going through Madras. We are going through Condon, so we have a new meeting place. We plan on meeting at:

The Round-Up Grill
209 S. Main Street
Condon, OR 97823

They open for lunch at 11:00 a.m. and we should be getting there about that time. No breakfast on Thursday, but good burgers, sandwiches, etc.

Everyone is invited to meet us there so we hope to have others join us at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday 6/13.

Re: Change in Meeting Place

Hello southerners, Nick and I should probably arrive around dinner time, Hopefully sooner. I assume we will be staying in the same area we have been last two years. Save us a few spots and another for Clayton who I think arrives on Friday? Looking forward to this as usual. See ya all there and ride safe. BUT HAVE FUN........
