Disturbance in the Force

I’m feeling a major tremor today centered in the Tigard area and traveling east toward Milwaukie. I hope this will be well documented here with lots of pictures. A number of envious folks will be patiently waiting. We’ve seen the teasers, congratulations Mr. A.

I was going to do like Johnny Cash and just get parts from the last 30 years of GS's and see what I could make... But then I just whipped out the check book and bought this one. What a fun ride home for the both of us. Now to "farkle it up"!

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Re: Disturbance in the Force

We just put on the first 100 miles and we like what we see and feel, yes feel. The engine, for a twin, is not at all buzzy. I remember the pounding the older boxers would give me. This is a lot smoother then I imagined it would be. We don't have the trunk and bags yet and Pauline is not used to not having a back rest, therefore we took it easy. We don't have Bluetooth helmets and not having communication is a bit of a problem but we're getting used to it.

The controls are pretty straight forward. I'm still getting used to the switching and do-dads. Fun time today though. The engine torque is awesome and the transmission is silky smooth. The clutch is literally a one finger pull with smooth engagement. The throttle is easy to pull and predictable. No complaints at all.

Re: Disturbance in the Force

Congratulations !!! What a beauty..... Makes Kris and I very envious.
With the regular riding season here, look forward to seeing you two and the newest member, at the rally. I guess at this point you can really make the statement that I will leave the LT's in the dust! Although, I did see a really nice set of knobby' s and studs on another LT in this forum....

I know we sure are! This bike is really fun to ride. I love the cruise control (just like the LT) and the torque. This engine pulls from 2500 up easy as can be, and now having to shift for every turn just makes this bike fun in the twisties. It is FUN, FUN , FUN!

Re: Disturbance in the Force

Thanks guys! We have 1100 mi on her now and it is one of the most fun bikes I've ever ridden. Got our first nail in the rear tire and riding on a plug; as it turns out tires for this bike and are not even in the states yet. I'm being told that the tires are a week to two weeks from arrival. I'm going to also look for a more 50/50 road/off-road tire for this bike and the back roads Pauline and I want to explore.

Great news Ernie and Pauline... a tire plug cannot dampen the fun.
