Re: Chief Joseph Rally

Are you talking about June 14? I loved the ride last year and am thinking of going you, if its OK that I have a spyder and camping trailer this year! I will have less mileage to the tank and probably won't take the corners as fast but would love to join Ya. I haunt pre registered as my sister in law doesn't have long to live (lung ca) but hope to go.

thanks
Larry

Yep, Thursday morning, John. What time do you think you (and Art) would be at the Black Bear Diner - noonish or earlier? I'm game either way. Are we going to see the new ride there?

Larry - no bias in this bunch. By all means, come along. We've been known to stop more often for smaller fuel tanks. Can you carry my camping gear?!!!!

Larry,

Hope to see you at the rally and get a good look at that new machine of yours. My experience is that your Spyder will be well received.

Looking forward to seeing everyone. What about the Northern Contingent? How many tent sites should we save?

Usual meeting place for a lot of us is the Black Bear Diner in Madras Larry. See here:
http://blackbeardiner.com/location/oregon/madras/

Somewhere between 11:00 & noon typically. Watch out if you order a bear claw though. Better be more than one person enjoying that little delight!

Exclamation Attention! Important News!

I have just been in contact with Natalie Becker, AKA Nattie Bear of Black Bear Diners, Inc.

She reports that they have changed the dough that is used on Bear Claws! Although they are the same size, bear claws are now only 1,200 calories. Just think of the ramifications. Now Denny can have two of them. ..one for each hand. Wow – see you in Madras.

Hey guys,

I will be leaving home a little late around 2:00 on Thursday. Amy is out of town on that day so I have to take care of the dogs, this way they won't be unattended for long. I should be there about dark around 9:00. Save me a spot if you would please. I will most likely ride down by myself since I'm leaving late. Look forward to seeing everyone, oh and John make sure to think of me when your eating at Diary Queen, and having that small Blizzard.

Had a great time in John Day! Really good to see everyone. Weather was good, riding was very good and where else could you find the combination of dry desert, snow and competitive mud bogging. Congratulations on your first place, John.

Another way-to-go for Brian's purchase of a new helmet. I can still see that nuclear green beauty when I close my eyes.( I'm hoping my condition isn't permanent.)

A special thanks to Art for his camp chair wrestling demonstration and let's not forget Denny's inspiring sermon on "The Awakening - Speaking to God".

Anyway, wonderful rally! See you all in Gold Beach.

Re: Chief Joseph Rally

Dan, It was great seeing you and every one else. The rally and weather was fantastic! I am afraid I will be needing a new bike though. On the ride home I was getting tossed around like crazy. UNLESS.... Larry's 4 weather reports stating 5 mph winds from his phone were wrong. For future reference, The biggs (HWY 97) crossing handles the wind better than the bridge on hwy 84. The last hour of my ride home was 49-53 degrees and raining.I know I'm home now. See ya all in less than two weeks.

The key words here are "mud" and "water". Tigers do not do so well in the real slick stuff. Ask us at WCR.

It was the best Chief Joseph Rally in many years! No rain at all, and the temps could not have been more perfect: 70's most of the time and lows in the upper 40's to 50's! Strange to be able to pack up a dry tent!

Art & I got home around 3:45 or so and the ride home was perfect as well! Enjoyed all the company at the Rally as usual gang. Let's do this again in about a year!

Dan, you hit it on the head - it was a great time folks. I pulled into the shop about 2:30 PM after a DQ stop along Hwy 26 - one last blizzard for the road - Dan made me stop (wait a minute, I was leading!) It twas nice to pack a dry tent! We must have missed the 5 mph winds as it howled for many miles. Now on the hunt for the perfect chair to pack on my load.

See everybody in Gold Beach.,

It was a great weekend! Too bad I realized that, as I expected, Spyders can not keep up with BMWs! The ride home was great but unfortunately, the no wind forecast was far from right. Brian, I am sorry about the bad forecast and you will be happy to hear that I have deleted the weather apps! Sorry to hear about the lost wallet. See you in Gold Beach.

Brian, let me know if you need a weather forecast!

You won't even see it then Ernie. Seems that taking a picture was not the paramount thing on my mind when the Tiger was napping in the mud! Stories there will be, but pics of the Tiger napping did not get captured. Art and I were too busy trying to figure how to get her out of the muck!

I know the feeling! Been there, done that... Too many times to count. See you in a couple weeks!

Re: Chief Joseph Rally

Had a great time and so good to see everyone, and catch up. Could not wished for or had better weather to ride bikes and visit with friends. I experienced lots of wind on the way home, had clear weather until crossing over Snoqualmie Pass with a few sprinkles.

Looking forward to all the festivities at WCR, especially the wedding to be performed by our own ordain minister Ernie.

Re: Chief Joseph Rally

I had a great time as well and couldn't agree more about wonderful weather and great place to ride. No problems on the way home except for a bit of wind.

Sad News

Just saw some very sad new about our Moto Guzzi friends. I'm guessing that this group was going home after the Moto Guzzi Rally in John Day. Our thoughts and prayers go out to their families.
