Thumbs up Cleared for Takeoff

I got cleared for riding and limited duty at work. What a great feeling it will be to get on our bike again. If it isn't raining too much tomorrow I'll take her for a spin. If I can get some one-up riding in during the week we'll be taking a two-up ride on Sunday for sure.

Ernie,
Congrats! Now you can put in some "practice time" on the LT so you'll be ready for the 152 HP of the GT in May!!

Thumbs up

Way to go Ernie.

Just think of your poor brothers and sisters unable to ride as yet due to the cold and snow. Don't go crazy or do anything foolish. I'm there with you in spirit and can only dream of the day soon to come. Ride safe for another day.

Hopefully you will get some breaks between the "occational showers" in the forcast. Great news on your recovery.

I'm going to start easy and build up. I have a lot of atrophy on my right side. The Bowflex is a good investment. BTW, I better put down a down payment on the GT... for 2007. It looks like the '06's are spoken for.

I couldn't survive the northern latitudes you folks endure. I would have to think of a way to store the bikes in a warmer Winter environment and schedule some vacation (holiday) time to visit them. Thanks for the good thoughts.

I'm working nights and now heading to the rack. When I get up you can bet I'm going to be sitting astride the LT... I only hope the weather cooperates as you say. Are you going to be at the Seattle Tech Session?

Nah, forget what the doctors say, just get out and ride it. You have to be ready for our 1,851 mile weekend GT trip.

Think I can hit all the checkpoints in a month?

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Heck, I penciled it out to 3 days and a few hours!
BUTT you don't get the highest number of points that way.

That is for sure! Your contract job will have to extend a bit I'm afraid. How do you explain that, "I have to do some area research at 80 MPH on the other side of the Cascades." I'm sure they won't mind.

Thumbs up 1st Ride of the Year

I got up from my daytime slumber to see some sun shining on the asphalt, and the urge was just too great to resist. I donned the riding gear and rolled the LT outta the garage for my first ride of the year.

My shoulder is about 85% to 90% recovered in both healing and flexibility. My only problem is reduced strength in the darn thing. That will return with exercise, and what better exercise than riding an 850 pound motorcycle!

I put on the iPod with the new connector from Dension. I installed my V1 with the new connector from J&M connecting it to the Com system. After checking the oil and tire pressures I set off to test the new throttle cables and the clutch slave cylinder. (Thanks to Ken, John, Brian and Art at our last tech session)

I rode a combo of freeway and back roads for 80 miles. The shoulder held up fine. The iPod never locked up! Are you hearing me Joe? It might be the darn connector afterall. The V1 volume was easy to control in the headset (why I didn't do this 2 years ago I'll never understand), and the new throttle cables were the single best thing I've done to the bike since adding HID lights. I'm happy with the winter's projects and their results.

I can't say how much I appreciate the information base this site has produced over the years. My experience with this motorcycle has been enhanced by reading the HOW and meeting members who have shared their skills and knowhow with me. Thank you.
