Dealer bites the dust.

I just found out that my rear shock is not covered under warranty and that Portland MC is closing their doors forever as of this Saturday. Not good on either front.

Hello Art,
I hope all is well with you and Marcia. Have not seen ya in to long! You may try your claim at another dealer not slated for the axe. Which Portland dealer is closing?

Re: Dealer bites the dust.

We are doing okay. I've just been putting in way to many hours in at work. It is Portland Motorcycles that is closing. I'm now stuck with dealing with Tigard. I've not enjoyed going there ever! If my rear shock ($2200) is not covered under warranty nor extended warranty then I'll go with another brand and do the swap front and rear myself (and get my good buddy John) to come over, have a beer and rip the b#[email protected] apart. What could go wrong? Beer and wrenching. Hopefully it will still roll

Well, if there was no beer, Lord knows what could happen! But we know that will not be the case. Hope Tigard or maybe Salem can help with the warranty issues on the shock though Art.

Re: Dealer bites the dust.

Sorry to hear of the woes Art. Tigard has so much potential; I only hope it will survive this economy. I don't want to have to travel too far north or south for parts. On a posiive note Tigard is suposed to award me and Pauline our 200k award this Saturday. I'm hoping they don't just toss it out the door when we drive up and they at least buy us a cup of coffee. I'm sometimes baffled at the respose I get from Scott's employees. Sometimes they go out of their way to help and other times it feels like you are between them and the doorway to beer-30.

Re: Dealer bites the dust.

Hopefully Tigard will step it up a bit. I decided not to even mess with BMW or Tigard and ordered Wilbers from the BeemerShop. From everything I've read any of the aftermarket shocks are better anyway and rebuildable. Congrats on the 200K.

Bummer, Art about your shocks - also about Portland MC. Do they consider it a wear item? I've been getting most of my parts there and like those folks.

Ernie and Pauline - congrats on 200,000 miles. I just got home from my annual steelhead fishing trip this evening or would have liked to have been at Tigard BMW to see the presentation. Awesome.

My mistake Denny; the "event" will be next Saturday at their "first Saturday" thing they do each month. There might be donuts and coffee, but I think they do that every first Saturday...

Unhappy Re: Dealer bites the dust.

Just saw the post. I have worked at building an excellent relationship with the service folks at Portland Motorcycle, so this is indeed very bad news. They were so close too.

Congratulations on the 200K Ernie & Pauline!!!

Don't work too hard Art.

Hope to see everyone soon...

Dan

Re: Dealer bites the dust.

Sorry to hear about Portland MC, even tthough a few years back I went in to 'chat and look-see', and they were very cold to me once they discovered I wasn't going to buy new. Oh well. Still (was) place to get parts locally.

Ernie/Pauline: Add my congrats on your 200k milestone!

Unhappy Re: Dealer bites the dust.

Very sorry to hear about Portland MC. They helped us out in a jam back in 2006 when I had a rear Battlaxe delaminate and bubble on the way up to North Bonneville Resort from California. They got us back on the road within a couple hours with a new set of Metz 880s which I think was at their cost. They also took photos and sent a letter to Bridgestone helping me get some of my money back on the wrecked tire with only 2300 miles on it. Good folks, nice shop, and a Shari's restaurant within walking distance. It's a sad day.
