bmw nav IV

I traded in my 04 LT or an 09 LT last nov. - now finally, we've had some good weather to ride more than to work and back. So I'm getting a chance to use my new BMW Nav IV Garmin unit. I had a Streetpilot on my 04, but it was mounted to the utility light right above the dashboard so I rarely had an issue with glare. The 09 has it mounted right above the radio controls and it angles up, so now i get all kinds of glare. I found a sun shield, but that was little help. I'm thinking of refitting the unit so it is more vertical in hopes that new angle cuts some glare. But before i do any cutting or customizing on the mounting hardware, I wondered it anyone has had and solved this problem. Any help? or ideas?

thanks for any responses - Mark
