Talking Busy in the shop + Ride

It has been a busy week in the shop and a visit from our daughter while she was on Spring break from 'Bama. The week started off rebuilding my first electric/hydraulic center stand on Mo's '05. Follow the steps on the LT site and it is pretty easy to do (albiet a little time consuming).

Next was a ride in the rain with Michelle on Wednesday. She fits in Pauline's riding gear and found some boots at Value Villiage for $10. We went for a loop to Astoria via Longview and back home on 26 via Seaside. the coast, amazingly enough, had the best weather!

Next on the agenda was a friend (Ken) from Vancouver with a VStrom that wanted to build his own Pannier racks. This turned out to be a blessing and a curse. It took an extra day to get them done but I really loved the TIG welding practice on this project. I love my new Miller TIG machine! His link on ADV rider is here: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=634231

That left today to get started on Randi's engine re-assembly which can be found on the Trike thread here.

What all did you guys do this week?

Well, let's see...Since my bike is in your shop in Portland and I am in Indio California. I spent some time riding my other two wheeled friend. I rode my bicycle 135 miles.

Glad to see you made some progress on the centerstand.

I'm glad to help you with your new-re-found fitness program Mo.

The centerstand is working good too. It is amazing that BMW does not sell a rebuild kit of individual parts for the thing. The local shop told me that they just throw the actuators away and put on a "new" one. It only cost $1100 for the actuator; mere pocket change for the rich-and-famous BMW set. I'm glad to have joined that club!

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...
