Redmond Rally

The 38th International BMW MOA Rally in Redmond is less than a week away! So who all is going? It will be a Spyder ride for Debbie and me and we will be staying at the luxurious Econo Lodge in Bend. Any thoughts of getting together for some rides?

Well Barbara needs to strech her legs again... The SS1000 we did last week was just not enough. We'll be at the campground though... If you see a red LT, with "Semper Fi" on the back. Slap her ass and wish her well for me!

She likes that!!!

Great idea Bob! The Deschutes Brewery (which I know has more than 10 beers!) is right downtown Bend, along with quite a few other locales. We can discuss it here and see who all is interested. Of course there is a DQ in Redmond for those real hot days!

Hey, while I have your attention: question about the rally. I was looking over the rally site, and I'm a little confused about the whole process. Do you have to be a registered participant to walk through and look at vendors and stuff? I wasn't interested in the seminars, just meetin' and greetin' and lookin'.

Well Bob, since we aren't arriving until Thursday, I would prefer Thursday. If you have it Wednesday it could be a little lonely i suspect! I'll have my cell with me so maybe we can hook up at the rally Wednesday afternoon?

Re: Redmond Rally

We have been in Bend for the past few days and I'm surprised how many BMW riders we have seen. For those of you who have never been to Crater Lake NP I would suggest that you do it. Lot's of snow still on the ground there makes for some beautifully photo's. Most roads are open. Also a two thumbs up for the Black Bear Diner in Bend. One of the best diners I have ever eaten at. Headed up to the rally site on Tuesday.

Did someone mention the Black Bear Diner? We love the place. Beware, however, if you order a homemade bear claw you will get something of gigantic proportions. Their nutrition sheet lists it at 2,430 calories. There is a lesson here, of course, and that is to never, ever look at the black bear nutrition sheet. Have a safe and fun trip!!!

Just curious, but when do y'all expect to be back home after the Rally? It's pretty much finished up on Saturday evening, right?

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Ken,

I just talked to Denney and he is coming home early on Sunday. Some of the other crew are coming home later in the day; perhaps an after Rally get together is in order?

That's what I was thinking. It'd be good to hear the Rally stories, plus I know a few folks up that way that have asked me to tell my IBR story.

So, for those who do want to hear the gory details in full color, see this thread

Re: Redmond Rally

What a wonderful rally. It was great to see everyone and a special thanks to Denny for providing the ďHost Camp SiteĒ where we could go for some shade and enjoy a cold one. We had a fun and uneventful ride home and now Iíll be turning my attention to getting ready for the WSBMWR Rally this coming week. Wow, are we ever lucky to have so many quality rallies in the Northwest.

Re: Redmond Rally

Glad to see another had a good time as well! We should have all had signs so we could tell who was who. As it turns out, I was at the RV spaces as well. We had the "open fire" next to the exit gate. I was in the tent! Best part of that was everyone had to pass us to get to and from events... Beer in hand and sarcasim offered up free! most took it tongue and cheek, but a few evidently had run ins with security and were a bit pissed from the tit-4-tat!

Re: Redmond Rally

It was great to see "the portland gang" and "just bob" again. Ditto what Bob said, thx to John & Marilyn for arranging the dinner get together!
Just got home last night at 8:30. Sure glad that I bought one of those cool vests as it was 119 thru Death Valley and on the freeway thru Vegas/Henderson. Pretty much in the 104 to 118 range for the whole ride, with the exception of some 37 degrees when I first left the Reno area around 6:00 am. Can't recall another trip where I have experienced an 80 degree temp change on the same day! Enjoy the great Northwest riding weather this summer everyone.
See you on the next one,
Jeff
