Dan,
I do not have a map with me so I can help you out with a route. But If I were you I would have a back up plan which would route you away from the high country. There still is a lot of freezing temps and snow going up here. So watch the weather and route accordingly. I-5 up from Ca will most likely be clear but not Im no fan of the interstate. There is always the coast hwy which is beautiful but you will need to add at least a day to your time. Enjoy your trip.

Yeah, I am trying to. It's a job interview in Portland. Trying to decide whether to fly high or low.

You can check the weather on the interstates at this link. You may get lucky, then again you may hit freezing rain and ice. Staying south then cutting up through California is a more reliable route this time of year.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Best shot from Houston is 10 West to 5 North.
Even then, going over Mt Shasta and Siskiyou's is ify.......but probably doable...

Ken's link is a great one. For Oregon specific info you can go here:
http://www.tripcheck.com/Pages/RCmap...RoadConditions
They have road conditions as well as road cameras on most of the passes, which are still receiving snow as we speak at 3000'!

Ken, John, thanks for the web links. Lots of great info.

Allan, looks like it is a better idea to do the I-10,I-5 this early. I need to figure out a way to bypass L.A.

PM Elton Strous (sic?). He got me around L.A. when I was in CA last year. Nicely, I may add. With killer pizze thrown in.
