Ride on saturday

I am heading out for a little ride tomorrow, Possibly Mt Rainier, St Helens, or Olympic loop. Anyone interested?

Sure, but now I'm 1,100 miles too far south. Maybe next time.

I have a golf game Sat. The wife and I are going to do some riding Sunday. We don't know what time or where to, but that is typical for us.

Thought I'd head home for a few days. I've been away so long, I actually forgot where the light switches are in the house.

Enjoy the ride.

I'm "Shocked" Today

I just got my shocks back from rebuild Thursday and putting them on today. I'll be testing them out this evening for sure! If your loop comes this far south give me a call.

Ken: Did you take a long ride home or a straight shot?

Straight down 5. Still too far to go and not enough time. Plus I really just wanted to be home. There will be time to play later.

I'll be back by the end of next week. After a quick trip to my local dealer to make some arrangements, of course.

Coni,
A friend called me up this morning and wanted to have lunch in Poulsbo. How could I say no? So we rode around the olympic Penninsila a bit and had a great lunch at the bayside broiler. I wish I had seen your post earlier, You could have ridden along.

Brian,

Glad to hear you got a good ride in today.

I was thinking that area would be a perfect place to ride today.

I wiil miss both demo days, however I will be in touch.

You be safe and we will go do a NW comparo of the GT and the FJR when I get back.

So what do you think??

Brian,
So tell us about your impressions from your first real GT ride!?
I would have joined you but left Thursday afternoon and went south with Joel down the coast to Eureka, said to heck with all the fog and clouds, and cut over on Hiway 36 to find fun and sun. Wow, now that road was designed for the GT! (I am sure that Ernie can vouch for that from his days down in his old playground). We met a 66 year old retired guy riding a K1200R at one of the stops along the way. He moved to Red Bluff just to be near this road and claims to have over 20,000 miles just on 36 alone. He averages 2500 miles on a set of tires riding it He led us on one helluva pace for the 46 miles back to Red Bluff. WOW what a rush!
Jeff

So Coni, inquiring minds want to know?? FJR??

Jeff,
This is primarily a LT site so I will tone it down to protect the overweight. I rode the LT for 43k in 23 months and never felt completely comfortable, After one day on the GT I was far more . Especially low speed stuff. I actually became to comfortable by day 3. I was getting a little competitive with a M series BMW car up on Saint helens and approached a curve way to fast. All I can say is that the brakes and abs are incredible! She really goes where you point her. I might ad that the stock pipes sound really good above 6k. As you know I could go on forever with the pluses of the GT, So I will mention an item or two I do not like. Like the stock seat! I will give it some more time to adjust but so far its horrible. Also under certain conditions I feel like the front end seems light? Not bad, Just a hair from perfect. I could probably do more miles a day on a LT, But GT miles are 3x as fun! I actually think the GT has a better ride in almost all conditions. But less protection from the elements. I am now fully converted.
P.S. I must mention that passing is now a real no brainer, and in a blink of an eye.

Stitch ritch..he was doing papa tangos when I went down there, and he did our k1200lt as well. 2nd time using him and love their quality! Let me know if you need their number......Oh yea, I would not put the leather on til you rode it for at least 1k. then bring it back for further fixings or wrap her up...

Brian,
Just the first of many "miles of smiles". Yes, passing is a simple roll on and then you look down and you're doing triple digits!
I second Ian's comment on Rich's for seats in your area. I had him do my original LT seat. I knew that my seat had to go the first week and got it done right away by Don of Mr Ed's right down here in Albany.
I'll look forward to riding together soon. Maybe we can even get Coni to join us in her as yet unannounced new wheels.

Brian,

Hey, I resemble that comment!!

It sure sounds like the GT is a great fit for you and the type of riding you enjoy. I for one would love to hear all about the GT. No motorcycle can excel in all aspects of riding. When Debbie and I are on the road with the LT, there is absolutely no other bike we would want to be on. When I scoot down the road by myself, I usually ride the GS because it is just more fun and I don't mind giving up some comfort. Anyway, I would look forward to hearing more.

BMW really amazed me with new models over that last couple of years. (yea, but where's the new LT BMW???) The new GS seems to be a smash hit and the GT seems to be going in the same direction. Here's a question for you all: If the GS and GT are doing so well, why did the ST fall completely on it's face in the US. I asked the sales folks at Portland Motorcycle about the ST and they thought that BMW wouldn't even offer it in the US for 2007. It has the new boxer with a few more horse than the GS, it is a "sport touring" bike like the GT and considerable lighter. It looks kind of strange and that seems to be a plus for BMW.

What happened?

Dan

I'm sorry! I foolishly thought that this thread was talking about a ride on Saturday, September 30th.

Yes, indeed I did buy the new FJR1300AE paddle shifting machine. I took it for a test ride and remembered 100 miles down the road that I needed to return to the dealer and tell them I was the new owner.

It's as if Jenny Craig slipped into my garage. I feel just like Kirstie Alley with this huge weight loss.

I was immediately enchanted with the idea of chip-controlled shift. After a few miles I was in love. It does everything it is supposed to do very-very smoothly.

Think about all the traffic jams (and jellies) that you have been in on your bike and just imagine not ever using your left hand on a clutch. Oh, and the surprising thing is that you do not even need to let up on the throttle while you are going through the gears. It just goes Zoom-Zoom-Zoom-Zoom-Zoom. Talk about feeding your passion for power and performance this bike is just amazing.

I admit that while I am really enjoying the FJR, I am now waiting for the new ' 07 FJR and the new '07 GT to come out before beginning the farklization process.

Mind you I still have both of my LT's and have made no decisions there yet either.

Just how big is your garage, Coni?

What's new on the '07 FJR? I thought they sorted everything out on the '06 model.

And don't forget to test the Concours-14. Just for comparison, you understand.
