What a trip over 7,280 miles

Just returned from a trip of a life time, for the route for those interested send an e mail, But wanted ya'll to know we made it home safe and sound with 7280 miles. 14 states, four time zones, and countless mountains and curves under our belt starting with Glacier national park then around Mt Rainier, St. Helens & Mt. Hood then Creator Lake then to Crescent City CA. to see the Red Woods, from there to Sacramento were we stayed with Mark and his family (we met on the BMW k1200lt site) then to Fresno to see my brother, then to Yosemite and the Rocky Mtn. National parks, then up to the great trailer show in Sturgis SD, but before that we did see Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse, After leaving Sturgis up 79 to 212 the skies to the North & East were starting to look a little ominous on the NE leg of 212 just N on 79 out of sturgis, the winds started picking up from the E. after the turn E we were OK heading into the wind which we later learned were gusting up to 60 mph and steady at over 40 mph. just before the Missouri river we saw a pole barn that was demolished and blowing across the road and field and road, and power lines were leaning at a 45 degree angle, Now the Rd. turned SE and we were taking sever cross winds to the point we were almost blown off the road, several times... at this point we stop and pointed the bikes into the wind and sat there for over 40 min. looking for a break in the SD winds, was I scared you ask? well in a word YES! never seen any thing like this before and never hope to see it again. No wonder there are no trees in that area they get ripped out by the roots... we also learned that three trucks were blown over that afternoon. Anyway, that was the only near death experience we had. spent the night in Gettysburg and the rest of the trip home was enjoyable temps in the mid 70's to low 80's... 15 days and 7,280 miles of beemer riding through this great country and with a good friend, it don't get any better then that.
