Washington Ride

On July 16 I left Victoria, B.C. for a five day run through Washington: did the Cascades loop, slide into Ride West BMW at the north end of Seattle for a little shopping. Escaped Seatacopolis via the Edmonds-Kingston ferry to the Kitsap Peninsula, Aberdeen, and 101 to Port Angeles and the ferry home. A fun trip.

A while ago there was listed 10 reasons why BMW riders don't wave. One of them was something like "...because they can't find the automatic wave switch" There were so many bikes on the Cascade Loop I was wondering where I could get one of those automatic wave widgets. Would I have to disconnect the microwave to install it?

There was a fair bit of road construction but no major delays. I did notice a lot of "Motorcyclists Use Extreme Caution" signs along with the usual flagger signs etc. which caused me to wonder: Is the Washington Governor, or the Director of Highways, a motorcyclist? Or has the Highways Department had a number of lawsuits by damaged motorcyclists?

It a new state law anytime there is construction or damaged roads they post signs to warn motorist and especially motorcyclists. Most often there is nothing to worry about but occasionally there can be a hazard that needs your attention. Once I was changing lanes I noticed a sign warning me of uneven pavement. Read it at the same instant I crossed a 3 inch higher pavement. A little pucker factor there, I pay much closer attention now. Usually they are pretty good at warning you ahead of time.I hope you enjoyed your visit. Next time post ahead and maybe some of us NWesters can ride along with ya for a spell.
