Brian and Friends in the NW:

Anyone interested in a ride to Morton and through Rainier Park from the East? Saturday afternoon or Sunday?

Gang,

I just did that ride. The roads have been *greatly improved* and there is just a couple of stops for road construction. The stops are not very long, and the road surface was not terrible, but as usual pay attention.

Sadly I will not be able to join you.

You all have a great time and continue to Hood River to watch the Kite Boarders. It is a great ride and a wonderful view. (Butt start early!)

Have a great ride!

ya you betcha! Mark and I are going to set a time to leave once he knows his Friday night/Saturday morning schedule. Us night workers have to juggle things a little bit. I'll post something by Friday evening where to meet. I was thinking of meeting at Portland Motorcycle, but on the 'Couve side you will have to pick the place.

Jeff,

I won't know for sure until Friday evening when Mark gives me a call, but I think it will be late morning because he and I have been working nights. I would guess we will meet at PMC around 11:00 and Morton before 3pm. From there it is Brian's show if he wants to lead us on some cool NW roads. Otherwise we are going to tour through the park and weave our way home.

Ian, 1:30-2pm sounds about right subject to adjustments with Ernie's schedule. I suggest checking this thread first thing sat morning. It seems like we are meeting around lunch time. Ernie,Will you be arriving hungry? I am game for meeting Ernie for lunch or arriving early to eat depending on everyone's plans.(Morton Mexican food)

Portland Motorcycle @ 10

We will be meeting at 10am (so says our friend Mark). Portland Motorcycle is just off I 205 on NE 105th (near the freeway). We'll take I5 to SR12 East and meet Brian and others at Morton (Chevron). From there we will do lunch and a fun ride through the Cascades.

We are leaving Portland at about the same time. We didn't know our leave time because some of us work nights and didn't know when we would be getting off work (as stated before). 12:30 is our target time in Morton. The restaurant is just off 12 at the Hwy 7 junction. See you there.

Thumbs up Fun Ride with Good Friends

We had a great ride today. Pauline and I want to thank Brian (Sanjuan2) for helping with our route today. We also met Ian and Wendy (ihbond) from Buckley WA. Welcome to the forum and NW riding.

The Portland and Vancouver contingent met at 10 this morning at Portland Motorcycle. Dan (Reelman) on a GS Adventure and his friend Oscar on an LT. Jeff (Mitchrider) on his new GT and our friend Mark on his Honda VFR. We left and went through Cougar and around the east side of Mt. St. Hellens to Randall then turned west to Morton for lunch and meet Brian, Ian and Wendy. The ride was spirited and fun (even with the rough road and patches of gravel). After lunch we traveled east and into Mt. Rainier park. We made a few stops for some photos and exited the park on the west end and started to head home.

Brian tells me the trip north was off the beaten track through some farm land and back roads. Our trip took us on the West Side highway off the 5. Dan and Oscar split off at Kelso and the rest of us took OR Hwy 30 to Portland. Pauline and I logged 405 miles and enjoyed every minute.

Jeez. Pick the one weekend that I'm back in CA for the ride. That's OK, I don't think my clutch could have handled it anyway.

Seriously, sounds like y'all had a great ride. Count me in on the next one.

Thanks and we had fun

Thank you everyone!

We had a great time with definitely some spirited riders. It was great meeting up with other riders and putting some faces to the names on the board.

Wendy had a great time and could not stop talking about our next adventure.

Thanks Brian for showing me another way to get home besides Meridian! Much better.

I could go on and on.....but I have another ride today. I have a date with a riding mower and practicing some slow turns with a cold one in my hands!

Take care.

Ernie, Brian & All,

Thanks for the great ride yesterday! Beautiful weather, nice roads, yummy food, beautiful scenery and a great group of riders.

I got to put the GS through it's paces and even got to sit on a new GT! (sorry about the drool, Jeff)

Hope to do it again soon. A few pictures are attached. If anyone wants the high-res version or a photo print, just let me know.

Dan
