Pieter de Waal to speak at SAE event

My company's internal website had an announcement about this event. I attached the PDF that was on the site. I don't live in the North East so I won't be able to attend but I'm sure there are some folks here that would be interested. I wonder if there will be a question and answer period that someone can ask about final drive issues in front of the SAE crowd? I also am interested in Mr. de Waal's take on marketing. Perhaps we can get some info on the next KXXXXLT? If any one does attend please let us know how it goes!

Re: Pieter de Waal to speak at SAE event

Thanks for the heads up Dave. I will attend the SAE meeting with BMW Motorrad tomorrow in East Hartford.

Re: Pieter de Waal to speak at SAE event

Last nights SAE meeting with Pieter De Waal was attended by about 70 SAE members and folks from the dealership. Most of what De Waal spoke about related to the S1000RR was inline with the many articles that have appeared in BMW ON, MCN, and Rider. They passed out a special reprint of the January 2010 BMW Owners News S1000RR write up.

Also showed a few slides showing the intake, cam area, and exhaust back pressure valves, HP curves related to the competition, etc.

Two of the 4 bikes the dealer had on display for the meeting had sold tags on them.

After the meeting, I was able to get his ear for a minute, and asked him how the Concept 6 engine in the new LT replacement was going. All he would mention was that design and manufacturing techniques learned in the S1000RR development would be utilized, pillion and rider comforts of the current LT would be continued. Also the radio/gps/intercom and other read out info would be like the BMW auto I-Drive feature with a wheel to pick out feature desired. Somewhat like the 2010 RT radio controls. I said 2011? He did not agree or disagree!
