Tech Session Near HBG PA ?

I would like to get my slave drilled.

Anyone help on hosting a Tech Session to do this?

I could host but I only have a car port and it is starting to be too cold for that. I do have a lift though.

Anyway I would love to get this done. I have the 30MM socket and drill bit a member here sold as a kit awhile back.

I also have a set of Rubber Chicken Para lever Bushings I would like to put in at that time.

So anyone withing a 100 miles want to help me out?

I do not think it is too bad of a job, but would love someone with some more experience then I to be there for guidance. I can turn the wrenches, just need the experience and moral support.

Thank you for any help.

Re: Tech Session Near HBG PA ?

Good morning Lee, I think you have been to my place last year for a tech session. If someone is willing to show us how my garage is available. The lift works fine and their is always the coffee and doughnuts. Pick a Sat. or Sun. and lets see who is interested. I can put on bike on the lift and a second on the ground behind the lift. Maybe we can do two bikes.

Re: Tech Session Near HBG PA ?

Lee,
You could use my garage but I couldn't host it until the weekend of Oct 24th or later.
I do not have a great assortment of tools a lift or the expertise.
If you have a lift and want to bring it by early, that would be OK.

Let us know what you want to do.

Yes you schooled me on the valve check.

I am in no hurry or rush but would love to get it done before really deep Winter sets in.

Since I ride all year with the heated clothes it does not matter how cold it is for me.

I am just a bit leery of the procedure as I have never seen it done. I feel the clock is ticking though and it bugs me not to have this preventive maintenance procedure done. I truly feel it is time.

I am open and would love to have as many come as you would like to have. It truly was a great learning experience and a great time. Still using that bolt on the seat release

Again I will take your offer, and I am open on timing. Like I said if you don't mind and we can get a few people there to see/help it would be great. If not I am sure you and I can handle it.

I am open anytime so no rush and will defer to you as this thread progresses.

I also need to review the procedure documentation I have accumulated from this Forum to see what is involved.

Thank you for your hospitality once again, and I look forward to this 09 Tech Session in Easton.

Cant let them Northern and Southern Boys do all the Tech Sessions.

Thanks for that swingarm comment You are not the first I have heard this from. I hope that being a 07 I may have a bit easier of a time.

Yes the attached PDF makes it look like smooth sailing.

Re: Tech Session Near HBG PA ?

If you guys do it on the 17th I can probably make it down there to give you a hand. If you want to make the ride up here I'd be glad to do it in my garage also.

I've done this several times so we should be able to do a couple at a time if people are interested. The last ones I did where taking just under two hours start to finish.

After the 17th my weekends are already booked through Thanksgiving.

I'll keep an eye on this thread.

Re: Tech Session Near HBG PA ?

The seventeenth works for me. I don't know how to do this and have never seen it done. I would like to learn as well. We will need someone to show us. I would like to see as many riders show that can. My garage is heated and I have the lift. Let's make it a date for the 17th and see who decides to come.

Re: Tech Session Near HBG PA ?

If the 17th is good for all then I am in.

I hope my Pivot bearings come by then but if not I will forgo that part. I also have the Moly Lube and the 270 Locktite for the pivot bearings coming in the same order.

If it is not here in time I will need to go by a Honda dealer and get the Moly lube for the shaft.

The phasing concerns me a bit but looking through the information there is a procedure for marking it.

Do we have a big enough breaker bar or a pipe to get these reported bears loose?

Anyway very cool stuff and anyone who wants to learn this should try and make it. It is IMHO a very important part of keeping a clutch safe on a LT.

Since I am keeping the bike for life I need to hedge the bets a bit. Even though I am in Warranty I am still doing this to avoid any hassle.

Re: Tech Session Near HBG PA ?

Hi all,

You know there is a video of the weep hole procedure available. Ties into Kevin Cooks excellent instructions. The video was presented at the CCR last month and is supposed to be posted on the website in the next couple of weeks. I made it with John Zeiler this past April 2009 at the Spring Training Camp in North Carolina. If its not posted, I will make copies here on DVD and send it to ya ahead of time so you can study it. Too big (a one hour DVD) to email.

Re tech session, I went to the one in Easton last year. Heated space, with a lift. Good guys there all.

Re: Tech Session Near HBG PA ?

I think it would be great if you would be willing to come down on the 17th. I know I would feel a lot better with an experienced slave hole master driller there in person

Looks like Lou has the 17th down so if you can, it would be nice to see you.

Thank you for your offer of hosting also.

Re: Tech Session Near HBG PA ?

Did not know such a DVD was made. You secret keeper you

I will gladly take a DVD if it is not a big deal. Or if someone could set it out on a FTP site to be grabbed.

I trust John with my life and have never meet him. He walked me through a ABS flush and made it painless.

It is amazing the documentation that is becoming available from this forum and it's members. If BMW would just take the top 5 guys on here they could make an LT bulletproof and regain the confidence it takes to part with 20,000+ on a bike.

Again I thank you for your offers of help.

Re: Tech Session Near HBG PA ?

So are you going to ride down with me on the 17th and watch us drill a hole in my bike?

Could use the driving company.

Sorry Lee,
I'd really like to see it but I can't make it. I have a prior commitment for that weekend.

Ride safe.
