Tech session in Oct?

Fall is quickly descending upon us. The leaves are starting to turn and the air is crisp in the a.m. Is anyone interested in an Oct. tech session? We could swap tales and truths and prep for Winter. I'll be ready for my 36k deal as we've done some cruising since April. Our home is available if desired. We will also postpone any 90 degree weather from the date chosen.

Re: Tech session in Oct?

Hey George, that sounds GREAT! Watch out for Color in The Catskills weekend, as I know there are several of us going to that. I'll be down in Fontana Dam, NC area the weekend of 10/17 as well, so hopefully I'll be able to make it!
Thanks for offering again!

I'm in...

I'd like to find the source of a vacuum leak that the stealer, I mean dealer, mentioned. I don't know where to start. Possibly replace my O2 sensor as well.

Not to steal George's thunder, but I'd like to offer my house/garage in the woods of West Greenwich, RI as an option also.

I'm in... I'll give y'all another option if you're interested in heading up to the "wilds" of the Maine Coast (just east of LL Beanville). I've got a Barn complete with a Handy Lift (that may even accomodate BigGeo's bike with all those farkles) and a Lobster Wharf next door to supply us for a bake on the beach...

Got back from VA beach last Sunday. Great ride for most of the trip and that 20 mile bridge is something. Hit a pot hole on the x bronx mine field which knocked both mirrors off. Trying to get to a safe pull over with no rear visibility was difficult at best. Hit a second crater and the left mirror tether gave way and the mirror went bouncing away. Finally got over and remounted the right mirror. This forced me to ride in the passing lane for the rest of the trip as I had no left side view. At several places I was up at triple digits to avoid slowing people down.
As this was the summer that never happened, the Fall should be great - might I suggest Oct. 24 with a rain date of the 25th. Is Charlievt out there?

Razee Motorcycle Center is about 35 - 40 minutes from my front door. Either of these dates work for me.

If we have it here in RI, I'd suggest Saturday the 24th.

That way, for anyone that wants to stay over, we can hang out Saturday night, and then go for a ride on Sunday out to Newport (check out the back doors* of the mansions and head over to Ocean drive) or something before heading back to your respective homes.

Let me know and I'll offer some suggestions for hotels in the area. (We live out in the woods, so there is nothing that's TOO close!)

*The front door to all the mansions actually face the ocean so from the street you're actually looking at the back door!

Re: Tech session in Oct?

I trust everyone knows that CurtisVT was honored at CCR as "Master Mechanic". A well deserved recognition.
If everyone is on board, lets shoot for Sat. Oct 24 with a rain date Sunday. Of course it will be a beautiful 65 degree day on Sat. so the rain date won't be required.
The address is 10 Clearings Way, Princeton, MA 01541 - tele: 978-464-5997. Lets try a 0900 start with a light breakfast and a cook out for lunch.
Please let me know who will be coming and we'll get a read on food required.
I certainly learned a lot this past Spring and I'm certain more will be learned this Fall. Plus the food was great. I'm excited to reunite with all again this Fall.
George

Most likely. I have an R and at least two others have them.

Do you want to wait until then to do your valves then?

Hi Lzyellodog,

If I can get some help before then, that would be better since its been a while since the valves were adjusted and I rack up alot of miles every day. Let me know if you can help .

Thanks,

Final drive tech session for anyone interested would have to be here in the deep south of Vermont. I wouldn't try to bring that the to general tech session.

Re: Tech session in Oct?

Sounds good to me... George, Plan on me being at your tech session on the 24th... and Charlie, When do you plan on the Final drive session? Ill get the parts needed... The drive failed on me 1/2 way through Illinois heading west few months ago (so this drive will be a good specimen for a rebuild) I ended up having to stay in Iowa for an extra week waiting on a replacement FD to get me home. I would love to have a spare on the shelf in case myself or anyone get stranded and in need

To continue with the hijacking,

I had mentioned to Curtis that if he were to do a rebuild, that it might be good to do it as a winter time tech session, not during the one on the 24th. Sorry for any confusiuon.

Back to the original topic:

I don't plan on doing any work to my bike during the tech sesion, but will be there to help out with others.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled program.

Re: Tech session in Oct?

I'd like to flush the break system and coolant at the upcoming session. If anyone has done these services please let me know what I should have on hand. I have a 2003 LT with 35,000 miles.
Thanks

Check, check, and check!!!

I'll bring either the starter fluid or the propane torch (most likely the starter fluid, because I don't have a propane torch) and a case of bud!

Personally, I usually flush the brake system, but if your bike has a break system, I would just remove it completely!
