Overnighter this weekend? Who's in?

Hey, who's up for getting out for a little jaunt this weekend? I don't have a plan yet, but am thinking about going from CT up into NY State, or maybe out into PA.... I'm pretty much open to anything at this point.
Most likely, I would want to leave on Friday night and head out a few hours, stay overnight, ride around on Sat and either return on Sat night or Sunday AM.

Could be a GS ride or whatever, I'm open to anything....

I was thinking to ride with a friend to Montreal for the weekend but nothing is firmed up yet. We could be leaving around 3pm on Friday.

FYI, the documentation requirements to get back into the USA are tougher as a couple of weeks ago. You'll need a passport or I think an ENHANCED drivers license.

You will also need an insurance card from your insurance company to show coverage while riding in Canada. i needed one for my auto last year. Insurance company just issues it with no real paperwork.Check it out, before you go.

That's new to me. I'm not sure I follow though? I didn't think of this before, but now that I think about it, to cross into Mexico you do need to take out Mexican insurance.... does Canada require that as well? Thanks for the tip - I better get my agent on the phone.

This could be a great destination. Hmmm.... I'm not sure yet, that may be a little farther than I was thinking as I'd like to be back on Sunday AM. Hmmmm

Well, if you want to go to Montreal for the city, okay. But the riding north of the border is flat and boring IMO.

As of 1 June a passport is required to get back into the US. I don't know about the "enhanced" driver's license.

I've never been asked for proof of insurance, even during a speed stop in CN. But I have read that you should get a statement from your insurer that states you are covered in CN. Yeah, all it took to get one was a phone call.

Have a good weekend ride!

Here is a link to the documents that are accepted at the border now.

Also, get an insurance card from you insurance company just in case.

Re: Overnighter this weekend? Who's in?

My buddy decided not to come to Canada today due to his increased fear of possible rain so I am grounded myself.

Bummer !

Them Yamaha 650cc guys are afraid of "possible" scattered showers with a 50% chance.

Re: Overnighter this weekend? Who's in?

No problem. I'm thinking of leaving later than I originally wanted, so I'll probably stay a little closer to home than I wanted as well.
I'm actually thinking about visiting some friends up on the Cape, and heading home Sunday AM. It's not the adventure weekend I was hoping for, but it will fit the bill and keep me out of the SO's way!!
Maybe we'll be able to catch up some other time though.

Did you arrange for Cape already or still up in the air?

Re: Overnighter this weekend? Who's in?

I'd really like to do a weekender, we should set one up with a little better planning.
I'm going to stay local tomorrow and do some stuff with the Patriot Guard for a benefit for a Waterbury Police Officer who has terminal cancer. Afterwards, I think I'm going to do some fly-fishing for a while before I settle down to getting actual work done around the house
Maybe in a couple weekends we could arrange something??

Re: Overnighter this weekend? Who's in?

Maybe we can make a weekend of the MEME? We'll stop in the MEME for a bit and check out the bikes, but really just ride the roads of Maine.

that's a few weeks away, just enough time for planning! (The Mrs may come with me after all!)
