Newbie come to play!

I was directed to this site by a friend that rides an LT (*cough* Dan S. *cough*). Iíll give you his name so you can beat him up if you donít like me. I ride an R1150RT.

I live in Bridgewater New Jersey with my wife. Iíve been riding motorcycles since I was 12 and Iíll be 50 this year. My riding style has been termed aggressive although I can fit in well on a group ride. My wife and I travel a lot. She has spent 13 hours on the back of the bike without a peep and prefers secondary roads as I do. We once made a trip to Niagara Falls and at least 40 miles through PA was on dirt. We ride in rain, cold, even snow if we have to.

Iím big into route creation using Garmin mapsource software along with their topographical package and Google Earth. I have a blast coming up with interesting ways to get from point A to B. Iíve published a few of them on ďSunday Morning RidesĒ

My RT is completely electrified with heated gear outlets, Zumo 550, XM, Autocom, Kenwood GMRS bike to bike, Radar detector, and cell phone, PIAA 910ís up top, 1100ís down low, and an HID low beam (we like night riding).

I do all my own maintenance and have a lift at the house and a tire changer in my shop.

The first thing I noticed was the amount of you that ride two up. This is what Iím interested in since my wife and I are always together. Iím hoping to meet other couples to share some interesting riding adventures with.

Here is a image file of our next ride this weekend which is a 1,000 mile 2 Ĺ day trip to and through West Virginia:

Our photo page is full of slide shows from a good deal of our longer adventures and can be viewed from my sig line

Welcome Don! I rode with Dan down to the Smokey Mtns in April... good guy. Sounds like your style would fit with mine pretty well, so we'll have to get together at some point.

Have you considered going to the BMW National Rally next year?

Re: Newbie come to play!

He's ok I guess Only kidding, he is a great guy. We belong to the same club.

I was entertaining that rally as something to do next season. We have a pretty big trip planned for June at this point si it depends on the sun and the moon and all that stuff.

I've been to the area a bunch of times with the last trip to the Smokey's last April.

Thanks for writing back and I'll be sure to shoot over a note when we're heading your way.

There, fixed it. That was pretty much all you had to say to this group!!!
It's a pleasure to "meet" ya, and look forward to the chance to get some riding in with you. Sounds like you're in the right place!

Well there's two from CT. We'll have to hook up and take a trip to Mt. Everett and Bash Bish falls in Mass. some afternoon.

Next year is our trip to Minnesota. I believe we'll be heading due south from there and passing right through your fine state.

I'm not sure who Gerard is but what the heck.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I'll be looking to see when the group rides are posted. I have a bunch of routes saved so I'll be sending out invitations in the near future.

"Welcome" from the Midwest, Don. A lift and a tire changer in your shop, eh? You must be a popular guy!

Loved the full-size photo of you and your wife on your RT on the Dragon.

Re: Newbie come to play!

The wifey and I are heading out tomorrow at 1:00 for Staunton Virginia. Then a 240 mile jaunt up Rt. 250 into Ohio. Sunday we beat feet for Jersey once again.

It's supposed to be a great weekend I hope you all have great plans to compliment this one. It's getting colder so it's time to break out the heated gear and check the fuses!

Thanks and I will. I'm all for getting together. If you're interested, I'll let you know when I'm going out local. Next weekend we're heading to Cliff's BMW in Danbury, CT if you're interested.

I'm the ride coordinator for the Skylands BMW Riders club, ever hear of them? You might be interested in attending a meeting to check it out. We have a great group and a host of interesting characters. We meet on the first Monday of the month at the Sky Manor Airport.

Even if you're not into the club thing they still host a bunch of interesting rides throughout the year.
