So, what's everyone doing Memorial Day weekend?

Saturday is the yard sale at the house. Always fun. :-( But, it will get all that junk out of the garage and basement so I can start the garage floor/bike lift project I've planned out. :-)
Sunday we open the pool for the season. Normally not too difficult, it's just hauling all the lawn chairs and the Tiki Bar out of the shed that's tedious. If the pool itself is anything like last year, we'll be looking at crystal clear water when the cover is pulled.
Monday we're hopping on the LT and going for a ride somewhere. Haven't decided exactly where yet, but who cares?

And you?

Re: So, what's everyone doing Memorial Day weekend?

On Sunday we're riding east on 50 to Wheeler Peak Nevada, then south to the E.T. Highway and Rachel Nevada, then west to Bishop CA and the Bristlecone Pine Forest before heading home on Tuesday. All to collect bonus points for the insidious and addicting Road to Nowhere Tour that John Flowers and Tom Lashbrook dreamed up for the River City Beemers club.

Re: So, what's everyone doing Memorial Day weekend?

Catching the Grand Prix of Monaco and Indy 500 in bits on the DVR between a wedding that starts tomorrow at noon (there's an all day event) and a BBQ cook out at friends on Sunday starting at noon (yet another all day event). Monday? Maybe ripping into my tupperware and dash to install a Gadget Guy mount and a Zumo. Hopefully I'm well enough off to take on such a task...

Re: So, what's everyone doing Memorial Day weekend?

Saturday: Motohio Open House
Sunday and Monday: helping son and his family move to the house they have been renovating.
Tuesday: welcome relief, by going back to work (office desk job).

No riding for me this weekend, other than from home to tomorrow's Open House and back. The loaner K75 I have is not an enjoyable ride, IMO.

I am about to head out to Boston right now.

I am visiting with some friends and I am bringing my mother with me. Unfortunately, I can not go by bike this time since my mom would not be very excited to ride in the back.

Maybe I will see some of you on the road, or around the Boston area.

Re: So, what's everyone doing Memorial Day weekend?

The yard sale was a huge success! We made a few bucks from around 7:30 to about 2:00. By then, most of the "good stuff" (I always wondered why people think it's such good stuff if we're trying to get rid of it) was gone, and the "FREE STUFF" sign went up. Wow, did traffic pick up then! I was glad to see that a couple driving a van for a local charitible organization pulled into the driveway and grabbed as much as they could. Junk to me, but I guess they can raise some money with it, or put it to good use somehow.
While all this was going on, the hoses were running to bring the water level in the pool up. Tomorrow is the grand unveiling. Tonight, I'm going to break in the frozen drink maker. It's been a long day......

Good ride today. My wife and I started in the direction of the coast to do some nice riding but got distracted with shopping Started to look for Apple phones (Iphones), and shoes Oh well, at least we put about 180 miles on the bikes with fare weather. Tomorrow will go out again and lets see if we make it to the coast If not we have the rest of the summer

BUZZKILL!

I had to put my 14 year old German Shepard Puppy down today.

His hips went on Thursday. He couldn't even stand up.

I will miss him dearly. He really was my favorite child.

Again, sorry to kill the fun.

Re: So, what's everyone doing Memorial Day weekend?

sorry for the loss of your dog Rob, it is always tough to lose a part of the family.

I went for a decent ride today, picked up a blue ray dvd player on the way home from best buy and a few movies, and plan on becoming a couch potato for the next 2 days.

Re: So, what's everyone doing Memorial Day weekend?

Kevin and I did a little work on his LT:

Hyperpro shocks
Blue Sea fuse box
HID under mirror lights
Mounting shelf
GPS wiring
HID hi beam re-install

No screws left over, either!

Oh, and we did a rear tire change and balance on Jim's bike before we started on Kevin's. Not a bad day!

Re: So, what's everyone doing Memorial Day weekend?

Sorry to hear about your puppy, we had to put down our 14 year old husky last august.

Wound up doing 433 miles all through back roads up through New hampshire and Maine on Saturday. Was a great ride.

Today have to mow the lawn and hopefully get back out on the bike for a quick hundered or two miles.

Re: So, what's everyone doing Memorial Day weekend?

RVB, Sorry to hear about your buddy.... My heart goes out to you as I totally understand.
Gerard,
I know I said it a whole bunch yesterday, but I cannot thank you enough for all of your help - there is NO WAY I would have been able to get through half that list without your help.
The new lights are really great, I haven't had the chance to really play with them yet though. Just fixing the high beam and getting it to shine where it's supposed to made a HUGE difference!
The new Hyperpros are fantastic so far, it really is as though I'm riding a different (and MUCH sportier) bike with them. Klaus set them up according to the information he asked for, and they're really close. I may need to increase the preload on the front slightly, the rear feels very, very good right where he set it.
Excellent customer service from Klaus if anyone is looking at the Hyperpros, I personally would not go anywhere else. I will post updates in the suspension forum ASAP.
Jim,
I owe you a HUGE thank you for allowing the use of your garage, tools and lift etc... The truth is, without Gerard and you, along with all the tools, knowledge etc, I would not have gotten half as far as we did.

THANK YOU BOTH GUYS!!!

R1200GSA Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It's off to Alaska I go!
