Baby it's cccccoooold outside!

o.K. I'm in complete and total riding withdrawal and just couldn't take it anymore.... So (against the explicit instructions of my wonderful SO - I believe the quote went something like "you keep saying you can't afford a &!%*# engagement ring!!! If you buy that @#$$! sled, the next place you stop better be a @#$%*! jewelery store #$^%@!!!!, "click" as the phone went dead... ) I went out and bought a new Snowmobile .... Guys, I gotta tell ya... if you haven't tried this sport.. you really need to! Woo hooo!
This thing takes off like my sportbike and will traverse ground that makes me absolutely cringe without even feeling it!
This is a shot of me last weekend up on Lake Winnipesaukee fooling around for the camera... WOOT!

P.S.... My SO CANNOT find out about this sled until AFTER March 1st!!!

She is going to kick your ass. SHe may be small but I would not want to be on her bad side. Whats it worth to ya to keep it quiet?

Hey have fun with it I hope it came with a really big box cuz you may need to use it for shelter.

I have always wanted to try the sport but have never had the chjance. A guy that works for me owns a couple them and a house in NH where he keeps them. He rides every weekend.

Cool Cool!

But, you haven't had the real thrill until you run that thing across 100 yards of water! And I ain't talk puddles! I'm talking a lake! Those things surely are amazing.

I just can't seem to have fun when it's this cold outside ... even with heated gear on. I feel like I'm just pretending. But I'm happy for you. Glad to see that you're making the best of it. Diffrint strokes fer diffrint fokes!

Yeah man, I'm not kidding about her not being able to find out before 3/1 or I'm a dead man...

If you want to go sometime, I may be able to get you a borrowed sled to try. I think the next weekend we're planning to go is 2/22 - 2/24 then I think 3/13 - 3/16.

This is a good year. Go get a trail pass and you can really explore the back country.

Re: Baby it's cccccoooold outside!

Hey Charlie, thanks for those links. I registered it in Maine and NH so far. I'm possibly taking a trip up near Lake Placid in NY so there's yet ANOTHER one.... and I thought the LT was expensive
I'm able to ride with a group of friends who know the trails, so all I have to do is make the corners without worrying where we're going! LOL!

Yeah, costs add up. Most (all?) states will grant reciprocity to the Sled's state registration, just like cars and trailers.
But each state's trails are primarily owed by private landowners who have agreements with their respective state's snowmobiling association. In Vermont it is VAST (Vermont Association of Snow Travelers). VAST is made up of local clubs who do trail maintenance which can consist of posting signs, clearing fallen trees, building bridges, and grooming the trails. This is where you get to pay for the right to ride in each state. In Vermont you join a local VAST chapter/club and get a TMA (Trail Maintenance Assessment/Trail Pass) for the season.

We don't think of the local, state, and federal taxes we pay for highway maintenance when we go motorcycle riding, but that cost is there. We just don't think of it because we're paying for it regardless. In the case of snowmobiling, yeah, out comes the check book again.

My in-state snowmobile registration is only $15 which is a fraction of what the motorcyles cost. It is the trail pass that costs, and yeah man, if you go to multiple states its gonna add up!

If you're going to the store with the expensive sparkly things (no, not your local Harley dealer, the jewelry store!) see if you can get the sales slip dated to get in on the diamond class action lawsuit!

I qualify for the maximum amount on the suit, and filed my claim online already. Just think - cash back for buying Telle her rings! I can turn sparkles for my honey into farkles for the bike!
