Scary slide in MA today...

Just another reminder to watch out for those darned tar snakes!

Coming back from Maine today to Andover, MA. Just inside the MA border at Haverhill on rt107, long sweeping right hander, adverse camber, raining buckets and recently poured tar snakes - hundreds of them! Even at 25 mph (posted 35) the bike was sliding into the left lane and I crossed the line before I got enough grip back to avoid the large SUV coming in the opposite direction. Fortunately the driver was NOT using the phone (or talking to kids or tuning the radio, etc) and he gave me a nice wide berth, otherwise we might have been side-swiped. Don't bear thinking about...

one for our side!

Glad to hear you stayed on top, it's hard reading the other stories about collision and injuries. Good riding and good times to you, stay safe.

Tar snakes are a f****** menace....IMO-they should be illegal if applied with out some form of tact incorporated.
My scariest LT events can ALL related to the damn things!!!!!
But I've wasted my breath several times on the subject many times!!

Brian,
Good to hear that you avoided a potential disaster. We've been having too many of those lately, it good news is most welcomed.

Thanks guys. What I didn't mention in the original post was that we were 2-up at the time. The wife thought I managed 'extremely well' even though she confessed she was scared stiff when the bike started to slide! This is the second time I've had a near miss on those damned things - the other time was in France (Toulouse) in heavy traffic on a rotary and the back wheel jumped about 12" sideways...
