Packed and ready to re-roll
Hey, all. I'm using a Bluetooth packable keyboard with my PDA, hooked into the motel's wireless NET access, so I don't know if this will work. Just a quick update: rode from CT thru the Adirondacks to the border with Canada, cut around Ottawa, and headed west on 17. Good roads, rather conservative speed limits, good campgrounds, met great people. On the advice of one of them (riding a GS Adventure), I changed my route and did not take 6 north. That saved me a full day, so I headed up to Saskatoon and Edmonton, and came down through Jasper and Banff National Parks through the Canadian Rockies. Got to Bend OR on time and with no mishaps other than losing my key to the bike (don't know how. Had a spare, but it took me 7 stops in various towns to find someone who could cut me a spare of the spare. I got two, just in case.) The last 3 days of riding (including through the Rockies) were in temps that topped out at 103 and never got below 90. I was exhausted, more from the temps than from the mileage (3915 to Bend). My wife and I have been riding 2-up along the Oregon section of 101 for the last 3 days, after spending 4 days with my sister in Bend. Tomorrow I take her to the airport in Portland and start my ride east. I'll stay in the States on the return trip until I reach Wisconsin, and then jump over to Canada and take 17 east into NY again, and then CT. It's been a great ride. Sounds like things are hoppin' in the Northeast - plans for riding to the International, CCR, Meme, Track Day, the list goes on and on. Enjoy the rides, guys. I'm signing off again until I get home. Ride safe.
