Re: Rear Tire Recommendations? The correct weight rating on the rear tire should be 78V. I just replaced a 73H which was on the bike when I bought it. |

Re: Rear Tire Recommendations? Make sure it is load rated for the LT by looking at the numbers and letters on the tire, even dealers make mistakes. Here, it rarely rains, few curves Metz shud last longer. but I've gone back to B'Stone for the FUN when I find a curve. Bob |

This is the first Bridgestone. I currently have 13,500 miles on it with the wear marks close. Perhaps another 500-1,000 miles left on it. I cannot tell any difference in performance. Dennis Kirk has them for about $160 with free shipping. Compared to about $200 for the Metzeler. |

Re: Rear Tire Recommendations? Choices...: Metz, Bridge, Avon I've run combinations of all, like most everyone else. 6K on a Metz rear is not the norm. Air pressure is most often the culprit of killing the tire. Avon, if you ride it like you stole it, but you sacrifice tire for sticking to the road. Metz, for highway, normally the longest Lasting tire Bridge, for a decent combination of the two above. I personally love the Avons. Hardly ever had a pucker in a lean. I do have Metz on her now. Not bad, but I lost track of the mileage. |

Re: Rear Tire Recommendations? 6,000 is not long at all for the ME880 rated for the K1200LT. I'm one of the ones who runs the ME880 up front and the Bridgestone BT020 on the rear. Nearly all of the riding is 2 up. Most of it is twisty and curvy mountain roads in North Georgia and NC but there are interstate highway trips too. I still run the recommended (here) 42 psi up front and 48 psi in the rear. I have nearly 12,000 on the rear BT020 right now and it still looks GREAT. |

Re: Rear Tire Recommendations? Bridgestone Battlax BT020 rear with Metzler880 front is a popular combination. That's what the original owner had on mine. I switched to Avons, which unfortunately are not recommended for an '09. |

Rear Tire Recommendations? I have a 2009 LT and need to replace the rear tire. The bike currently has a Metzler ME880 that lasted about 6k miles. Any recommendations on tire brands & models that would provide decent handling and long tread life? |
