True but I prefer to watch the level drop in the funnel as I pump out the fluid. You can drain that little reservoir in about 3 seconds with the pumps. I remove the baskets and "suck" out the old fluid before I put on the funnel and re-fill.

Neat idea on the cap and hose deal... kind of a make shift funnel.

Re: How much DOT 4 brake fluid needed?

OK but I don't see the need to use a vacuum bleeder when the servo pumps will push out the fluid 10 times faster than you can suck it out. I just put a speed bleeder bag on the nipple and hit the key open the bleeder and squeeze the brake lever. You can pump out a pint in 10 seconds. The trick is keeping up with the flow, that is what makes the funnel so valuable. Hope your "lovely assistant" has x-ray vision since the reservoirs are black plastic and you cannot see the level except through the fill hole.

Thanks for the information. I will flush the brakes using a Mighty Vac hand vacuum pump connected to the bleeder valve. I will also have a "lovely assistant" filling the reservoirs as I pull from the bleeder. The 'lovely assistant" replaces the funnel and has more valuable uses.

Re: How much DOT 4 brake fluid needed?

There are some good proceedures in the "files" "technical" area for flushing the 05 LT do a little looking around in there. It is a big help to have the funnel that Beemerboneyard sells as you cannot see the fluid levels in the reservoirs on the ABS unit and the pumps will drain them pretty fast when doing the wheel circuits. All the flushes I have done never used more than two pints.

If you go for the brakes be prepared with a funnel and a trip to the dealer to pressurize the system.... this per a few others....

I have a quart... use a little over half... so that's a bit more than 2 pints.. then again, I'm only trained to use hammers.

A 12 0z bottle should do you fine but I would by two bottles if you are doing the wheel circuits and the ABS control unit in case you run dry trying to get those pesky bubbles out of the system.

How much DOT 4 brake fluid needed?

How many ounces of DOT 4 brake fluid should I have on hand to flush the brakes and renew the clutch fluid on a 2005 LT?
