You boys might want to rethink this trip. I have been to Mexico many times and I really enjoyed Creel but this is not the usual "bandito" story...

The deadliest attack came Saturday night when three carloads of gunmen pulled up and opened fire at a family gathering in the small town of Creel, a popular stopover for the tourist train that carries thousands of passengers annually through Mexico's Copper Canyon.

When I do stop for a night I always make sure its well lit and generally populated. I believe the further you are from civilization the greater the risk especially in areas like Chihuahua and Culiacan. Just thought I would share......

Thanks for some good advice.

It would have. Having ridden some old Triumph Bonnie's with the shifter on the right, I can tell you it is confusing.

Chuck, I owe you for the gaskets, so if you won't take money, next WED dinner we both attend, your meal is on me.

I rode the bike to work this AM and everything is fine, no leaks, and the shifter seems to be in the same place it was.

THANKS AGAIN!

About the lift I got to use it again last night to RE- Fix Dan's KLR Ham handed Me messed up a Gasket and Dan objected to the 10-W -40 waterproofing I was supplying to his Left boot. OH WELL

That is a scary story. Batopilas is an interesting town and I had a good time there. However, in my many trips to Baja and Mexico the only time I EVER felt uncomfortable and out of place was riding into Batopilas. I just felt as we were riding down the main street to our hotel some strange looks and a bad vibe... hard to explain but it was there. It is a fairly remote town and I just chalked it up to that...

Copper Canyon, Mexico October 11-25

Was going to go to the BMW Mexican International Rally but registration is sold out.

Found this!!!!!!!!

5th Annual Copper Canyon Rally in Creel 10/18-19
http://www.chabochismotorally.com/
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=334420

Was going thru Canyon anyway so now I will just make this the destination and spend more time checking out the area.
There will be several veterans of the Canyon attending so should be good time with lots of people to follow.
On-site registration only $20.00
Rooms (no reservations required) $15-$35.00

Way cheaper than using a Touring Company and will probably get on roads/trails not even on the map.

Maybe return by ferry across Gulf and up Baja.

Anyone interested?
Leaving 10/11
Returning 10/25 (maybe)
