Yes Sir,

this (also Finnish) guy gave the idea to my CCR buddy Jouko to make the dummy exhaust. http://picasaweb.google.com/pozoizqu...ONTHERIGHTSIDE

However, the original one is not built as a tool carrier, it is just for looks.

It has taken me all over Europe, and with a map change, all over the US as well. Some of the newer GPS units have surpassed it with features like Bluetooth and XM radio, but I still like the large screen and relative ease of use.

The pic below isn't my bike, but it does give a good sense of the split screen capabilities.

Chris - if you want more info about this setup, PM or email me.

Please post information about the dealer that has these lids. Maybe if enough of us ask about them, they will be willing to ship to the US...

PM sent ... that's an amazing system there with that built in screen, the nicest one I've ever seen mounted into a bike like that ... if something that's within reach and will fit my K12LT, I'll be putting serious effort into getting one of them ... I'd take a system like that over a dash or handlebar mount setup any day

There's a VDO-Dayton MS5000 on eBay right now (item 280177599877) starting at $49 with no bids ... looks like even the electronics and LCD system aren't very expensive - I'm sure it will sell for more than $49, but it's nice to see that they aren't outrageously priced

And from looking at the VDO-MS5000 GPS unit, it has a "CD player" size and style computer/map software interface that I'm sure holds a navigation DVD ... the system that is mounted in the K1200LT's must have the factory single CD player removed and this GPS brain box installed in it's place

Oh, now I see what's wrong with that bike. Those big K12 logos on the saddlebags are just plain wrong.
here's that photo, there's something wrong with the linking when it's done directly

I LOVE those ... has anyone seen these in person? ... are they something you can buy, or are they a one-off prototype custom thing?

If these were available for sale, I think they would sell a lot of them ... same as the incredible built in screen below ... this would be AMAZING as a GPS unit, or even a small tablet PC

It is a GPS unit that replaces the oddments lid, made by a German company. It looks cool and carries a cool price too.
