javandyke The obvious is often overlooked so don't feel bad bringing it up. The fuse was/is OK. This morning when I fired the LT up the light worked just fine. I decided to take it to my dealer to discuss it with him and when I got there it was just like yesterday, no light. I just love intermittent problems!
My dealer asked to keep it for awhile to try to diagnose and repair the problem. A warranty issue hopefully.

FredR A stupid question. Did you check the fuse? Mine went out and it turned out to be a 3A fuse; that fuse also protects some of the tail light as well.

The maintenance manual makes it look like a piece of cake, but it shows the older style halogen lamp and cover which do not look a lot like what's on my '06. I release the bail holding the cover per the instructions but the cover does not seem to want to come off. Working mostly by feel it's difficult to tell what I need to do. I would be very grateful if someone could enlighten me as to what needs to be done and offer some much needed instruction. Thanks!
The HID bulb should last MUCH longer than that. The aftermarket one I had in my 2000 was still working when I sold it after 4 years.

I would ask the dealer to look at it before you mess with it yourself...
