Greetings from the California Central Coast!

Hello everyone. Just wanted to introduce myself. I've been lurking around for the past month or so, reading posts and getting more familiar with this forum. Long story short about me, I've been riding 30+ years....after awhile you just stop counting the years or caring enough to keep track. I'm sure many of you can relate. :-) I've owned many different brands of bikes over the years, and at different points in my life I've had a few bikes in the garage at any given time. At this stage in my life, I've recently downsized my garage, sold my home in SoCal and moved up the Central Coast, near San Luis Obispo. Lots of great riding up here in the central to northern part of the state. Anyway, my current bike is a meticulously maintained '02 R1150RT that I picked up after moving to the area. The previous owner is a Dentist who pampered the bike and took excellent care of it during his ownership. Like myself, he too was downsizing and actually owned two of the exact same bike (same year, model and color), along with a few other bikes in his stable. I just happened to be at the right place at the right time, when he decided to sell it. The bike only had 21,000 miles on the odometer when I bought it and so far I've been very happy with the bike in the 3,000 miles I've racked up recently. Now that I'm at 24,000 miles, I'm completing my first service on the bike; so we're still just getting to know each other. Overall, I would say this example is the nicest "used bike" I've ever owned. Looking forward to chatting and getting to know you folks, and if any of you are from the Central Coast, send me a PM. I'm always interested in meeting new people and going for a ride.

Welcome to the forum! Looks like you are near the Morro Bay/Cayucos/Los Osos area.

. Indeed. In that general vicinity. Morro Bay is about 45 minutes to the North of me. I live closer to Pismo Beach, near the coast. I took a breakfast ride up to Morro Bay last weekend, it was perfect riding weather. The central coast has a lot of great riding opportunities along the coast, the canyons, the hills, wine country, etc. Another place I enjoy is Solvang (opposite side of Buellton). If you've never been, I'd recommend taking a ride up to Solvang and visit the Danish Village, have a bite to eat and while there visit the motorcycle museum. Lots of cool bikes on display.

Re: Greetings from the California Central Coast!

My parents had houses in Los Osos and Cayucos after they retired and lived there until 2007. We used to take our sand toys (Suzuki Quadracer and a Honda Oddessey) to Pismo Dunes, where I almost died after hitting a VW sand rail in the middle underneath as we were both cresting a dune. That's a fun, but dangerous sport!
