Hello folks

I traded my 10 GL1800, two months ago for a 17 R1200rt. Yes I know the 17 are not out yet, but my local dealer knew I was looking at the BMW and he needed clean Wing's so a good deal was worked out. So right now I am planning on reading up on BMW and enjoying the upgrade of 12 plates and 24 screws just put in my neck. So keep me entertained

Thanks
Rick

Or what tires to use. Or seat. Or windshield. Other than that, we are a right friendly group.

Welcome from Kennesaw GA!

Heal fast, and congrats on the RT. Just bear in mind, they don't come with microwaves or fridges.

Thank you, I went to the Orthopedic Spine Surgeon, today and I am starting two months of rehab tomorrow. HE said if I do my part I will be riding by early spring no problem. For mental therapy I go out in the garage and sit on the S1000rr in a normal riding position for as long as I can take twice a day.

Welcome!
I hear you! How about driving lights? Are the BMW lights really worth the price, or what others are just as good?

First, welcome! I, for one, will be most interested to hear about the new ABS that will be on the '17 RT! Good technology, and I would love to hear of some hands-on experience.

Second, don't believe what he said! You will get a lot of input for sure on those subjects, but the controversial one is "oil"! You can start a war with that subject!!

As for aux. lights, I think that you will get a better value with the Clearwater products. I have a pair of Krista on my RT. They are not cheap, but neither is the BMW lights. The Clearwater lights meshes right into the RT's network with the Canopener module, and your lights can be controlled using the existing controls on the left handle bar. As a bonus, the Canopener also have several aux. output, and the two that I use are: a trigger for my fuse-block/distribution terminals that comes alive only after engine start; and a programmable output to my aux. LED brake light (on the BMW large top-case) so that it acts as a running light as well as programmable (flashes) brake light.

Good luck, look around and you will find tons of information here on all of these stuff!
