Thumbs up Another new guy to the site

After nearly 40 years I am back to "The Ride" having recently acquired this nice 87 BMW R80 RT (68,000 original miles). My neighbor a BMW mechanic with 50 years experience), spent 6 months restoring the bike only to discover he really didn't have room for it in his garage with his Harley, bike trailer, tools and SUV.

Long story short he made me an offer I could not refuse and now the bike and the trailer have been relocated to my garage. I immediately invested a long weekend in the Motorcycle Safety foundation's Basic Rider Course to facilitate the re learning curve and the level One Road course is coming up.

Six months and 3,000+ miles down the road my bride and I are having a blast. The bike and trailer trail behind our 24' Class C motorhome like a dream and we have taken it to the southern Rockies as well as northern California from our home in Tucson.

Compared to the newer crotch rockets out there this one is old and slow but then.... so am I.

What a great looking bike to start over with and with a neighbor like that I'd say an LT is very doable. A lot of members are returning to their youth. We like pictures so keep them coming. Welcome to the best motorcycle forum.

2000 Lt
800 Kawasaki
25 yrs. without
750 Suzuki
550 Suzuki
160 Honda

The ride is fresh under diamond skies, makes me glad to be alive.
