Intro post

Long time rider, first time joiner/poster.
Too many bikes and states visited to mention.
Most recent acquisition - 14 hours ago - 2007 R1200RT, yes, 8+ years old, but pristine with just 14,000 miles. I checked it from stem to stern, but who knows what I missed, or what I don't even know to look for since my previous 04 1150RT?
Suggestions, ideas, warnings all most welcome...Ken

Re: Intro post

Welcome! '07 RT is a good year!!!

Recommendations are:

1. Register with BMW to let them know that you now own this bike, so that you will get all the notifications. You can check with them, at the same time, if your bike have had all the recall works done. This is the e-mail address that I had used: [email protected]

2. Some of the more important recall work includes replacing the fuel-pump flange, and very recently replacing the rear wheel flange. Those will be done by your local dealer at no costs.

3. Be aware that there is a letter that had been sent out to all RT owners with "fuel strip" as fuel level sensor, that tells you the fuel strip will be replaced for free for 12 years, when it fail. Mine never did, but you will find a lot of reported failures without looking too hard! You should ask for that letter, for your file, while you are contacting BMW!

Can't think of anything else right now, but I know that you are going to enjoy riding that bike!!
