Yo, Neil....

.... aka ironbuttwannabe. Dang near missed you on the list, Neil. Wanna be sure and wish you a very, merry Holiday Season; a Happy and Prosperous New Year next; and of course, a HAPPY BIRTHDAY today.

Been a while since you've visited your bro out west Tejas area and joined us for some lunch. Be privileged to have an encore of that, or some of us could meetcha up in Junction or Sonora if you ever get back there. Take care, Neil.

Re: Yo, Neil....

Thank you Dick and Howard! Its been quite a long year for me. Not a lot of riding. Getting financing through PNC hasn't been the easiest (sorry Howard), but finally received it and are moving forward and should be done by end of month. Mom and dad are heading down there in February, brother is having his first baby. Hopefully I can ride down this summer. I will attach some pictures of new barn. Thanks again, this is a great forum

Re: Yo, Neil....

Holy catbird, Neil, what are you building there? (besides something extremely big)
Is this building for your use, or something you are building for someone?

I seem to recall a post by you a long time ago regarding this project... kind of vague on that recollection, however.

Re: Yo, Neil....

Maybe I will do a build thread on it when I get some more time. It is a 81x225 sow gestation barn with attached office. It will be a loose housing barn with 3 big pens. Electronic feeders wwere shipped in from Austria. We didn't build it but are doing some of the work to save some money

Re: Yo, Neil....

Cool.

You know you could hold a really, really, big Tech Session in that building... right?

Re: Yo, Neil....

Haha, yeah. It will have a 26x12 heated part plus another corner attached behind office just for working on small stuff/welding. Maybe I will break down and get a lift for that corner, but lifts are for older people . I think I might try just making one with spare stuff laying around. I have a couple precast slats laying around that would be perfect .

Re: Yo, Neil....

We are gong to continue to use our current farrowing barn. Which means we will haul sows back and forth when they are ready to have babies. Farrowing barns are quite expensive to build. When we expand that will be when we attch the farrowing barn. I'm only 27 so I've got a while to keep expanding. This site is all set up to go to maximum EPA capacity of 2400 sows. We would just have to add 120 feet to this barn and build another 80x330 gestation barn right beside it along with about an 80x 300 farrowing barn. If I could find some investors 2400 sow operations are much more efficient than 650. Any takers?
