RTE Suggestion?

My wife and I just caged it to La Porte and back for daughter's wedding. For the rehearsal dinner, we went to Redamak's Tavern in New Buffalo, Mitch-again. Fantastic burger joint. It y'all ever plan an RTE there, let me know. I might ride 1300 miles to eat there again!

Re: RTE Suggestion?

No doubt, the burgers are good. All the folks that I've been with there have liked them. I, personally, will be bringing in my own lettuce and sliced tomatoes _if_ I ever go back there. I spend a lot of time in the "Harbor" area of coastal MI. Lots of good restaurants are starting to show themselves in the last few years.
Redamaks seems, to me, just too much about them instead of what their customers want. No coffee either.

Otherwise, I also like the place.

Re: RTE Suggestion?

Yep good burgers, but most locals don't have much else good to say about the place.

I wish I could think of clever things to say in my signature.

More than just a salad-less burger - I guess I liked the atmosphere and space. And beer.

Though I'm not a complete fan of the place (as stated above) I do admit it's a cool place to go. It has a special quaintness from being around for so long.
Yes, and the beer.....

Anyone up for a RTE there? I'll be in the neighborhood this Friday through Monday (19 June - 22 June). If so, I'll definitely ride the LT up there. There are some awesome roads to ride, around the Round Barn Brewery, and would like to find more that any locals know of.

Cool. Either one (Sat or Sun) works for me. I'll be in Coloma all weekend, so it's a short scoot over for me.

Re: RTE Suggestion?

Guys
May I suggest somewhere else than Rademaks's???? Just had a RTE scheduled and just before we arrived, the Latin American motorcycle Harley group showed with 150 bikes. Also I had been advised by others including Woody that there was a better spot.

We ate there and the food was 3x better. Wagner's in Porter, IN - about 30 miles south of Rademaks on rte 20. But turnoff is on Wagner street and there is only a street sign telling you that. About one mile E of 94. Chicago Region BMW will now use Wagners instead of Redamaks.

I have scheduled a RTE near Milwaukee on Sat but can be available on Sun.

Re: RTE Suggestion?

Not sure what state I will be in this weekend, Wisconsin or Illinois, if in Illinois, Sunday is possible. On Saturday you should all consider Mods Vs Rockers - http://www.tonupchicago.com/flyers/09mvr.html It is a very cool gathering of everything motorcycle. I know it is in the city of Chicago, but that is part of what is cool about it. Blocks and blocks of motorcycles and scooters, lining both sides of Lincoln Ave. All sorted by era and country, and while traffic tries to go by! Definitely a different kind of destination ride.

Re: RTE Suggestion?

As stated above, I'm not exactly a fan of Rademaks, it's just a good meeting place. I was really looking to do some riding in the area after lunch near the Round Barn brewery / Tabor Hill winery area. West of Bridgeman around Snow, Hill & Mt Tabor Roads, nice rolling country roads. I was hoping some local(s) could show us around. Looks like a good area as opposed to the NSEW of the midwest.

Sunday is looking like the best riding day weather-wise.

Now, I'm assumming this is about a lunch time (noon EDT, 11:00 CDT) meet? Doesn't really matter to me a couple hours either way.

Check out: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&um...resnum=1&ct=14

Is that the place? I'd be up for a Sunday RTE at Wagner's at noon CDT (that's 1 pm Eastern Daylight). That's at 361 Wagner Road in the Porter/Chesterton area off of I94.

How 'bout it folks?

That's it. My group raved about the food. I had pulled pork - great - the Richman is fanatastic. And the atmosphere was very cozy and waitresses friendly.

Again - no stop light or sign except a steet sign on the west side of the road - Wagner. Turn south, over the bridge and it's right there.

Re: RTE Suggestion?

Sorry guys. I'm gonna have to bow out. My intent is to ride the back roads not the slab. I get enough of that from Warrenville, Il to Coloma, MI and back.
Good to know of a recommended eatery that's on I-94 though (thanks, Dave ). I'll be sure to try it on my way home Monday. Good mid-way point to stretch.
Have fun,

Hey Jer....if you're staying in the Coloma area, why not take the two-laners south and meet us for lunch, then ride the backroads all the way home? No need to stay on the slab for long!

I may have found a way back that I'll enjoy. Maybe ride back with you partially to South Bend if you're up for it. It'll get you the 20. Porter Ave to Burdick to Snyder to Division to County road 50 S to I-2 through La Porte to 20.

Whadda ya think?

It took me 20 minutes south of Rademaks to Wagners. And everyone raved about the food instead of complaints.

Jer
There is a better burger IMO in Michigan City at Swingbelly's just across from Matey's on the main road to the lake. I live here (Michigan City) so feel free to stop by for a cup of coffee. Call and I'll guide you in 219-561-3744.

Re: RTE Suggestion?

I'm interested too...and live just down the street (Valparaiso), but it's father's day, so I'll have to see if my wife's got plans for me...like perhaps making me a nice lunch or somethin'. If not, I'll be there (Wagner's) at 12 noon CDST.

I wish I could think of clever things to say in my signature.

Nice to see all of you and the bikes that showed up. Nice group of LT's.
I took the back roads home. Ran into a couple dirt roads (Paul: good thing you went your own way), but they weren't too unnerving or long, just a little slow. Saw some great little towns and out of the way places. Looking to do it again soon.
Rode back to Warrenville today and stopped at Wagners. I saw a beer on tap on the way out yesterday that I wanted to try. Back Road Brewery made it. Nice and dark, but not too heavy.
Dave: good call on the pulled pork sandwich. Excellent! Today I had the blue cheese burger, yeah!.

Thanks again to all that showed. Let's do it again soon,
Jer

Re: RTE Suggestion?

Pat
I schedule the Meet To Eats for the Chicago Region BMW. Check out CRBMW.com for Hot Dog Nights and Meet To Eats and we will hook up. Wagners will be the contact place for MTE in the future. Food is just that much better than Redamaks.

And the guys from LT.com who came, always a pleasure to meet like kind riders.
Come and join the fun, Pat.

Yeah, I'm a computer geek. Yeah, I've been on the internet since ARPANET. Yeah I've had webpages and AOL page and Google page and...but my kids would rather not see their Dad on Facebook or any of the permutations that currently exist. Long story short, a casual user can't access your Facebook pictures for whatever reason, but thanks for the offer.

Anyone else have some pix taken last Sunday?

Thanks,
Jer

We were there for 3 days of wedding chaos. Not easy planning things from 1300 miles away. Not much time for anything else. BUT, I'll be back that way on two wheels sometime. My last Michigan ride was cut short by a bad Hall sensor on an R1100RT.

Glad I could help by stirring the RTE pot. Sounds like y'all made it happen! Redamaks or not!
