Bruce Coleman Memorial Svc

BMW family,

I am posting the information I received today from Rick regarding the Memorial Service and Celebration of Bruce Coleman's life. Bruce's last wishes were to be cremated. His celebration will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Eisemann Center, 2351 Performance Dr., Richardson, TX 75082.

Bruce passed on Sunday, March 23, 2014 after tests revealed that he had no brain activity due to complications that occurred on Friday, March 21, 2014 from his diabetes. Bruce is survived by his girlfriend, Julie, mother, brother Rick and sister Lyn, one daughter, two grandchildren and his six "cat kids" - May May, Girl Scout, Josephine, Bump, Abbie, and Mittens. Bruce is preceded in death by his father who passed just 4 weeks before him.

Bruce was a Comptroller for a company in Garland. He loved to bowl and ride motorcycles. Bruce recently purchased a 2010 Goldwing and was breaking Julie in on the joys of riding. Julie, on the other hand, was breaking Bruce in on 5K races as she is a runner of 5K and half marathons. Bruce recently received his finisher's medal for his first race and was proud of it!

In thinking of Bruce these things came to mind - wonderful man, special friend, loving, caring, helpful, always smiling and cheerful. You were always greeted by a hug with him and I don't believe I ever spoke with him in our 10 year friendship that I remember him being down or in a bad mood. In thinking of these attributes, I hope to try and live life more that way. I will forever feel the void as he left this earth far to soon. I will miss his digs as he always gave me crap because I was challenged in the direction area - that was his job to put together the RTE routes and get me, the Pie Princess, to the ever so yummy slice of PIE!!! We will all remember the time we were at lunch in one of our po-dunk cafe's when the waitress was tallying up checks and asking who was with who for totals. Bruce and Rick popped up and said "Put us on one check . . .we are life partners!" I don't believe the poor country waitress knew how to take that, she was speechless and of course, we all laughed til we cried.

Take a moment to stop and remember one great memory of Bruce. It will surely put a smile on your face.

I grieve as I was not able to say a last goodbye to him but I know he looks down upon us all. He smiles as we worked so hard to place all his sweet cat kids in homes so they would not go to a shelter. One last loving act of kindness for him, because we knew that is what he would want.

A pastor once said something at a funeral that has always stuck with me - on visits to the sick and dying he NEVER said goodbye. Only "I'll see you when I see you!" As Christians we will see each other once again when we are called home. So Bruce, I will see you when I see you and I know you are celebrating with your Dad and will be eating PIE on Monday to celebrate your birthday. We all love you and we so miss you.

Rest in Peace,
The Pie Princess

Re: Bruce Coleman Memorial Svc

Sorry to say I have never had the pleasure of meeting the Texas wing of this forum, or Bruce. I have been here long enough to know how close a group you-all are and my prayers and best wishes go out to you all and the Bruce's family.

See you when I see you.

Re: Bruce Coleman Memorial Svc

Well said, Gina.

As I read your post I tried to follow your lead, to "Take a moment to stop and remember one great memory of Bruce." There trouble is that I could not, at least I could not just think about one great memory.

I have been thinking a lot about Bruce lately, and, each time I remember something different. Although he and I have not talked as much of late as we did in years gone by, my memories of him are all fond. Our lives will all be diminished some for having lost him, but also made that much better for having known him and enjoyed his friendship.

Rest in peace, my friend. One day we will surely meet again.

Thanks, Gina. I will be at MotoGP at COTA on the 12th and will be thinking of y'all and remembering Bruce's sense of humor. I'll lift a glass or a fork in respect.

Re: Bruce Coleman Memorial Svc

Was a lovely memorial. There were, of course, tears, but the was also many smiles and laughter. The video was great, and a few got up to tell some of their "Bruce" stories. Was a beautiful setting, and there was a lot of love in the room.

Bruce, no doubt, was smiling down upon us all as we celebrated his life and the blessing it was to know him.

Re: Bruce Coleman Memorial Svc

Was thinking 'bout y'all. Glad it went well. MotoGP qualifying was great but a bit windy. Probably carried my thoughts up that way in no time.
