Fallen Brother

Today is truly a sad day in North Carolina. My friend and brother in arms is now in serving with God in Heaven. Deputy Rhyne was on duty and passed from a shot wound. Deputy Rhyne had nearly 40 years in law Enforcement and one of the finest men I have had the honor of knowing. Deputy Rhyne will be missed in our community. I first met Rick in 1978 and I know my life has been better for it. Please keep the Rhyne family in your prayers along with the Moore County Sheriff's Department. One of Rick's loves was riding his "yellow" Gold Wing. If there are curves and roads in Heaven, I know he will be on one tomorrow if not sooner. RIP, Deputy Rick Rhyne.

Re: Fallen Brother

Thanks everybody.
Rick took a head shot from a Gulf war (1st) veteran. Who had been released from the Army with some mental issues. The shooter then took his own life. The community is in shock but we'll be okay. Rick's son who is stationed in Texas (Lt. Col. Rhyne, fighter pilot) should be arriving soon. The next few days will be hard but near as hard its going to be on Wanda. Please keep everybody in thoughts and prayers. Thanks

More than 132,000 (recently corrected higher) motorcycle riders have died in traffic crashes since the enactment of the Highway Safety Act of 1966 and The National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1966. Be careful out there.

Re: Fallen Brother

Patriotism seems to ebb and flow in America; these days most of it is focused on veterans. What we often fail to embrace as patriotism is that thin blue line that makes society possible.

From one veteran to another; What you do for us deserves our unconditional respect and deep admiration. You make it possible for me to leave home with confidence that mine will be safe. For that, and for the sacrifice it requires, I am eternally grateful.

I am not a religious man, but I will hold with reverence the hope that thin blue line remain always safe and ever present.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
