I saw this on the news this morning. I always looked forward to his commentaries on 60 Minutes. Excellent writer and speaker. He'll be missed.

Re: Andy Rooney at 92

Andy Rooney was America's greatest curmudgeon. I loved listening to him as he tore into things that were politically incorrect or otherwise made no sense. I learned some critical thinking skills from listening to his essays and I enjoyed his wit and style.

Here's the comment I got at home when I mentioned that he had died and that I liked him:

"Off course you liked him, he was a crusty old geezer"

Should I be offended?

Re: Andy Rooney at 92

In addition to his weekly commentaries, he wrote several great book that I really enjoyed reading. He was a woodworking craftsman too. A really interesting man who had a great life.

He was very involved in the liberation of at least one concentration camp during WWII and has some enlightening things to say about it. The man will be missed by a lot of people.

Re: Andy Rooney at 92

I was first exposed to Andy Rooney in 1976, as a high school senior. Our Social Studies teacher forced us to watch (on one of those new-fangled VCR players) a documentary called "Mr. Rooney goes to Washington". He was only in his mid-50's at that time, but I can still recall thinking he was one old fart.

Turned out that it was a highly entertaining piece, and from then on, I always enjoyed his work.
