Robert Azevedo

Just wanted to let the community know that Robert Azevedo the father of Ernie Azevedo (ErnieA) has passed on. A service is being held for him today at the assisted living home that he lived in for the last couple of years.

Robert had a passion for motorcycling. He and Ernie's mom rode most of their life. The Azevedo's toured the United States and Europe several times. In later years after he could no longer ride Robert followed Ernie and Pauline by map on their travels and later had the staff of his assisted living facility follow them by watching Ernie's Spot Tracker on the computer.

Robert was very supportive of Ernie over the years, hauling Ernie thousands of miles on weekends and supporting Ernie while he raced motorcycles.

Recent years you would always find Robert at Ernie's shop whenever you were there working on your bike. He was a pleasure to talk to regarding motorcycles and what a source of knowledge.

Ernie, I know you will miss your father and your friend. My thoughts are with you on this day.

Re: Robert Azevedo

Ernie, My sincere condolences on the passing of your father. I'm sure he's riding his favorite roads and smiling from ear to ear now.

I met Robert a few years back in Grants Pass while planning an event with Ernie and the NW gang. Robert had called Ernie found out we were in Grants Pass and drove up to join us. I really enjoyed his company, stories and tails that weekend. Robert has great Spirit and I'm sure it will carry him through on the other side.

Re: Robert Azevedo

I was also fortunate enough to have known this man. Robert loved to wander about the shop and see what you were tinkering with, and he always had some good advice to give. He will be missed.

Dayle and I send our deepest sympathies to Ernie, Pauline, Bob, and Michelle.

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Re: Robert Azevedo

As another fortunate one to have met him like Ken and John, I would say that John has it correct: He can ride those curvy roads forever more now Ernie!

Re: Robert Azevedo

Thank you for all your kind words and prayers. Dad went peacefully on April 30th. I'll miss him dearly. He he had a full life and was a real motorcycle enthusiast. He wore out two Goldwings touring around north America as well as many dirt bikes and other street bikes. He toured Great Britain twice (including attending the Isle of Mann TT), the Alps and New Zealand twice. He sponsored me in my racing days (early '70's) and was an avid AMA supporter and Grand National Dirt Track fan. He spent many weekends of his past 25 years of retirement chasing the dirt tracks around the country. He spent the last three years up here in the Portland Oregon area being close to his family. He helped me build my shop (after seeing how crowded I was in my two car garage). The shop was our club house and we had many happy moments out there together. I'm happy to have had such a wonderful relationship with my Dad. I am truly blessed.

Michele and I send our condolences to you Ernie, Pauline and your children. One of the big measures of us all is the kind of family we leave behind - in that regard, Robert was indeed a fine man. He is out there on some twisty road right now!

Re: Robert Azevedo

I will take my measure of worth by what my kids and grandkids think of me after I'm gone. If they can sit around and laugh at some of the funny, cool or dumb stuff I did, I will have been successful. If they remember me as an old fat sedentary man with cigarettes or whiskey on my breath, I will have failed.
It sounds like Mr. A was a success (in my book).
