    Merci Jean.

    South shore of Mtl?
I always spend time in McMasterville when I come to Mtl. I have a sister in law living there.
I got the bike only few weeks ago (I still have a K100 with an EML sidecar), and I am planning to work on the K12 during the winter.
The bike is a 1999 (from Ottawa) and it seems that it has been well maintained. Even the final drive has been rebuilt less than 10,000 km ago.
According to my ETK (BMW dealer parts CD), the bike is a European version which is what we get in Canada.
I will do things like fuel quick couplings (if not already done), stainless steel brake lines and maybe change the springs on the shocks).
For now, I am just riding the bike to try to find if something in particular has to be checked during the winter.
BTW, I am French and communication language could be either of the Canadian official languages.

    Cheers, amicalement

    hello Bert,

I am located on south shore, about 30 minutes from Montreal. Would be fun to met , plus I love sidecars. I had a small 350cc with a sidecar when I was young (between 1978 and 1980).

About the CANISTER: assuming your K1200LT is truly a Canadian model (and not a USA bike later imported here) there is no canister. The whole system involves some other plumbing and an electronic valve in addition to the canister.

There are many ways to check if indeed you have some of that plumbing but you would need to remove the left fairing that is just over the throttle-bodies. The canister itself would be located (for USA) under rear top box. But having the canister there means nothing as some USA owners have removed plumbing but left the canister.
